Actress LJ Reyes surprised her followers when she announced on Tuesday, May 30 (PH Time). that she is engaged.

LJ, who currently resides in New York, revealed that she is getting married to her boyfriend Philip Evangelista. She shared the news with photos of the romantic proposal on Instagram, which she captioned with a Bible verse.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 29:11 NLT,” LJ wrote.

LJ’s engagement comes over a year after she split from her partner of six years, Paolo Contis. Paolo is now in a relationship with his A Faraway Land co-star Yen Santos.

LJ and Paolo share a daughter, Summer, who turned 4 years old last January. At the height of the controversy surrounding their breakup, LJ moved to New York with Summer and her eldest child, Aki (from her previous relationship with Paulo Avelino). The 35-year-old actress cited the reason for their move as a way to “mentally and emotionally recover as a family.”

Last year, LJ admitted that she was still in the process of healing from her split with Paolo.

"There are days that I find it difficult to...ang hirap nito. Okay, nandito kayo ng mga bata. Kailangan kayanin mo. Halos minu-minuto akong nagdadasal. If not, may mga araw na I don't feel okay,” she said.
