Producers of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ confirm second season

The hit South Korean drama series Extraordinary Attorney Woo is set to return for a second season, according to South Korean media company JBTC. 

JTBC announced that the production company and writers of the phenomenal K-Drama reached an agreement to write the highly-anticipated second season. 

An official of ASTORY––the production company behind Extraordinary Attorney Woo––shared with WikiTree some details regarding the agreement. 

“It is indeed true that we have signed a contract for 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' Season 2,” the official said.

Fans, though shouldn’t get too excited, as Moon Ji Won, the writer of the first season, has committed to several projects prior to their agreement. 

“At the moment, the production of 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' season 2 is still in the internal development stages due to writer Moon Ji Won's ongoing commitments with other projects,” the official remarked.

The casting has yet to be confirmed according to the ASTORY official. Meanwhile, the participation Park Eun-bin and Kang Tae-oh in the second season has yet to be determined. 

Kang Tae-oh is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service and is scheduled to be discharged in March 2024. 

The hit K-Drama broke records during its season finale as it attained a viewership rating of 17.5% The series captivated audiences not only from South Korea but also globally due to its storyline.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo tells the story of Woo Young-woo––portrayed by Park Eun-bin––who is an autistic lawyer raised by her single father. Her character deals with and uniquely resolves her cases, capturing the hearts of millions of people with its storyline. 

Park Eun-bin’s extraordinary performance in this K-Drama won her the prestigious Daesang Award or the Grand Prize at the recently concluded Baeksang Arts Awards 2023. 

During her acceptance speech, the award-winning actress shared her gratitude towards the people who have made it possible.

“Countless works have been produced over the course of the year, with numerous talented individuals dedicating themselves to their craft," she said. 

"As for myself, I believe that it was the unwavering support of those who have come to love the character of Woo Young Woo that led to my receiving this award," she added.
