“I think it’s the SOGIE Bill,” she began, saying that she recently attended a dinner party for an LGBTQ+ talk where some government officials were present. They talked about the SOGIE Bill, and the importance of educating people about it.

“So definitely, ang problema doon ay hindi alam kung ano ang nakapaloob sa SOGIE bill and I think that’s a social issue kasi may pinaglalaban kami tapos ang ginagawa ng karamihan ng mga tao ay sinasalag niyo agad pero hindi niyo alam kung ano nandoon. Alamin niyo muna kung ano nandoon. Alam niyo lang na it’s for the rainbow community/LGBTQIA+ community pero hindi mo alam na it’s for everyone,” she said.

Turing then recalled another experience, “So, I performed two weeks ago sa Butterboy [a café] and I explained to them what SOGIE bill is, and it’s for everyone. At binigay ko isang example, isang first time viewer ng drag show who is a cisgender woman Christian na first time niya ma-introduce sa world of drag.

At saka ‘yung pag-tanggap ba. Yung respeto, pagtanggap, at hindi ka ma-discriminate,” she reiterated.

Meanwhile, Turing was also asked about her advice for those who feel hesitant to come out or express their love because they fear judgement.

She said, “Mahirap sagutin yan eh. Tapangan mo sarili mo. Come out when you’re ready.’ Tapangan mo pa rin sarili mo pero at the same time, kaya mo yan. You have a whole community who’s behind your back, supporting you.’ Kasi mahirap eh.

“Ako kasi, I’m very fortunate that I have a [support] system. I have a family who’s very, very supportive of me bata pa lang.

So, for me, may dalawang side ako ng sagot. Pero kung ako talaga sa puso ko, come out when you’re ready kasi ikaw pa rin ang magde-decide sa sarili mo kung kailan ka magsasabi sa mundo na ‘Hi, I am part of the rainbow community,’” Turing concluded.
