Ian Veneracion shows up as an undercover substitute teacher

“Lights, camera… surprise quiz in the aeronautical classroom,” captioned Ian Veneracion in a video he posted last July 11, 2023 on his Instagram page.

“Iloilo to Manila: While waiting for my flight, I passed by an aeronautical school,” narrated Ian in his post. “Mag-substitute professor kaya ako?”

The renowned actor nonchalantly walked into a classroom at Iloilo’s Visayas Aerospace College and Technology under the guise of being their teacher. He walked up to the front of the room, had the blackboard erased, and went on to introduce himself simply as “Capt. V”.

With his head covered, no one could identify who he was at the start.

“First flight of Orville Wright: When was it?” he asked the class as his first question.

The pop quiz had some going online to answer his random questions.

“Speed of sound?” he asked next. “Mach 1 is equal to?”

A brave soul answered: “1,200 kph.”

Pleased that he got an answer, Ian finally revealed himself and invited the student for a photo.

Even with an active career in showbiz, Ian manages to maintain his other interests, such as that as a licensed private pilot.

One of his Instagram posts from November 2018 showed him flying his friends aboard a Cessna plane in Australia.

“I flew a Cessna 182 with my scared friends over the Sydney Harbor,” he shared. “Awesome experience!”

In an interview with Men’s Health magazine, Ian shared some of his thoughts about flying.

"In flying, you have to be really decisive. You have to have confidence in your judgment,“ he said.

He stressed how important it is to be armed with the necessary information to make timely decisions.

“Before you use your judgment, you have to have all the relevant information, and kung paano mo paninindigan 'yung decision mo because you have a million decisions ahead of you,” he explained. “Once you make one decision, doon ka na, diretso ka na. Wala nang, 'ay dapat pala ganoon, dapat pala ganyan.'"

Ian is known as a family man who also maintains an active career in showbiz as an actor and singer. Aside from that, Ian is also a painter, licensed private pilot, skydiver, paragliding pilot, and scuba diver.

“I don’t always go with the stuff that I’m already comfortable with,” he explained. “Whatever makes me uncomfortable, I see it as a challenge. I have to see what’s out there.”
