After taking a break from acting, actress Sunshine Dizon said she did not find it hard to decide to return to acting after being offered a role in the upcoming drama series Pira-Pirasong Paraiso.

“As everybody knows, I was on hiatus for almost two years when this was offered to me. To be honest, I wasn’t very sure kung babalik pa ako. Pero nung nag-usap kami ng manager ko, sabi ko parang ngayon lang ulit ako nakabasa ng script na very challenging, very interesting, and parang bago sa panlasa, bago lahat. So sabi ko parang I can’t say no. Parang I feel like I really have to do it.

“And of course I’m very thankful to sir Deo (Endrinal) and Dreamscape and ABS-CBN for giving me the opportunity to be part of the afternoon slot again. It has been my home—the afternoon slot—and I’m so excited na makikita na naman ng mga fans at masayang masaya ako sa pagbabalik ng ABS-CBN sa panghapon and kaparte ako nun. Maraming salamat,” she said during the Pira-Pirasong Paraiso press conference last July 13 in Quezon City.

It was last May when Sunshine was announced as part of the cast of the newest Dreamscape series which will also be the first teleserye collaboration between ABS-CBN and TV5. Other cast members include Elisse Joson, Alexa Ilacad, Charlie Dizon, Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, KD Estrada, Epy Quizon, Art Acuña, Markus Paterson, and Argel Saycon.

The 40-year-old actress, who has already had numerous afternoon soap operas under her belt when she was with GMA, said that she tackles each new role with a fresh start.

“You know it’s so hard sometimes to differentiate characters eh. I think as an actor it depends on how you attack it.

Sunshine made headlines last year after she revealed that she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. She revealed her condition after she was rushed to the hospital for an unknown cause. In a now deleted post on her social media account, the Pira-Pirasong Paraiso actress admitted that she wanted to help break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

“Since I'm here alone feeling overwhelmed, I guess it's time to admit what I’ve been going through recently. Diagnosed with PTSD, Depression, Panic attacks, Abandonment issues, and that's just skimming the surface. You may ask why now? Only because I want to free myself from the stigma. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help. I know it’s very hard to get stuck in your head. But we can do it, baby steps. One day at a time,” she shared.

Sunshine also shared that she was taking several medications and already getting treatment for her condition.
