Chito Roño receives a Lifetime Achievement Award

The group became known as the first boy group in the country. Apart from dancing, they also starred in their own films and released a self-titled album. </p><p>Present during the awards night were members Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Spencer Reyes, Meynard Marcellano, and Danilo Barrios, who gave their mentor and manager a touching tribute before presenting the award. </p><p>“Kung awards and nominations naman ang pag-uusapanhitik na hitik diyan ang ating pararangalan. Hindi na mabilang ang kanyang Best Director trophies, dagdag pa ang Best Story and Screenplay ng mga pagkilala,” Meynard declared.</p><p>“Masinop, malikhain, masigasig, yan si boss. Nakaagapay lalo na sa mga panahon ng pangangailangan, madaling malapitan, laging maaasahan. At hinding hindi ka niya iiwan. Hindi ko akalain na makakatanggap ako ng parang special award for all my work. Alam niyo lahat ng trabaho ko galing sa puso ko, ginawa ko dahil &#x27;yun ang pakiramdam kong tama sa panahon na &#x27;yun,&quot; Chito said. </p><p>&quot;Actually, isa yan sa mga sikreto ng director, ang maramdaman ang panahon ng pangangailangan upang makagawa ng magandang pelikula,” he added. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2018/7/23/fresh-scoops/director-chito-s-rono-handpicks-christian-bables-47574" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>READ: Director Chito S. Roño handpicks Christian Bables for the movie “Signal Rock”</u></strong></a></div><p>The acclaimed director also got emotional when sharing his surprise at seeing the Streetboys reunited on stage for the night just to present his award. </p><p>“Dumaan ang 80s at 90s, nakagawa ako ng mga pelikula, pinag-artista ko pa nga itong mga ito. Kaya nagulat ako andito sila ngayon. Sinikreto ko talaga ito sa kanila. Hindi ko sinabi,&quot; Chito remarked.</p><p>He went on: &quot;Wala akong binabalitaan kahit na sinong tao. Tumawag pa si Danilo kahapon, wala akong sinabi (laughs). Kaya sobrang gulat ko nung nakita ko silang nandidito. Salamat boys, sobrang touched ako. He also directed ABS-CBN shows like Imortal, Maria Mercedes, Lastikman, and Spirits. As a writer, he is known for his work in films like Sharon Cuneta’s 2008 drama Caregiver, Sukob, and Spirit Warriors.</p>
