Veteran theater actress Lea Salonga briefly addressed the viral video surrounding her and her interaction with a fan who attempted to enter her dressing room on Broadway earlier this week.

Christopher Retokelly Carpil, the netizen who uploaded the video that has since gone viral on Facebook, insinuated that the Tony-winning star treated them unfairly backstage. This, after he and his companion stormed Lea's dressing room for a photo op.

The video garnered thousands of views on Facebook and other social media platforms where it has been re-uploaded, including Twitter.

“GUSTO KO LANG PO IPOST. Bahala na po kayo humusga,” the netizen wrote in his caption.

In the video he uploaded, Lea was seen fixing her personal stuff inside her dressing room when the alleged fans knocked at the door and asked for a photo with her. Seemingly caught off-guard, Lea directly told them that she didn't know them.

“Who are you? I’m so sorry. I don’t know you,” Lea asked the fans.

Lea shared that these fans weren’t on the guest list which made her wonder how they were able to get to the dressing room right after the show. She then proceeded to tell them in the two-minute video about the security protocols that everyone should follow.

“You have to go to the door, I’m sorry. But if I allow this now, other people are going to take advantage of this,” Lea remarked.

Fans––including Christopher––who were present during the fiasco, were immediately brought outside by Lea who reminded them where the exit can be found before allowing them for a photo-op.

Christopher, in a lengthy Facebook post, said that they just wanted a photo with the superstar, pointing out that they paid a huge amount to watch her show, Here Lies Love.

“Siguro naman po bilang Kapwa PILIPINO at mga FANS eh mabigyan ng kahit konting RESPETO AT KAHIT HINDI NA YAKAPIN OR I BESO ay mapagbigyan na kahit sandaling Magpa PICTURE,” he wrote in his caption.

Netizens came to Lea's defense, calling  out Christopher and saying that the latter was in the wrong. Several netizens said that Christopher and his companions shouldn’t have gone into the dressing room which should be a private area for the artists.

Lea addressed the issue on her Twitter account earlier today, July 17.  She stated the importance of having boundaries between fans and artists and how they shouldn't cross them.

“Just a reminder… I have boundaries. Do not cross them. Thank you,” she tweeted.

She added that the claims of the fans about them being acquainted with the co-producer of the show were untrue as she confirmed it right after the incident.

“Sooooooo here’s the kicker… the person whose name they were naming as their producer friend has no idea who they are. I asked her, and she’s seen the video (all our producers have, as well as company management, house management and security). She had no idea who they were. I was giving the benefit of the doubt until the moment I heard back from her,” Lea shared.
