After showing support for her mom Janice de Belen who won Supporting Actress of the Year at the recent 38th PMPC Star Awards for Movies, Inah de Belen said she was proud of her parent’s latest achievement and was happy to be there in person to see her accept the award.

“I’m so happy to be invited. I’m so lucky to be honoring my mom and to be supporting her. Kasi siyempre I would not be inspired to become an actress if it wasn’t for her, of course. Isa siya sa mga inspiration ko so tama lang talaga that I show her my support,” she told PUSH at the awards night held at the Manila Hotel Centennial Hall in Manila.

Inah said that having a parent as one of the most talented actresses in the country has not been hard for her since Janice wants her to pursue her career independently.

“My mom kasi ang na-appreciate ko sa kanya is, I’m the type of person na just let me do my thing. And yun yung na-appreciate ko sa kanya. Hindi siya sobrang stage mom. Hindi siya dapat ganito, dapat ganyan. And she’s very, very supportive also and she just let’s me do my thing. And pag may problem ako, pag alam niyang I need her help, dun lang talaga siya lalapit or dun lang talaga siya magbibigay ng advice. So yun yung maganda, she let’s me be independent kasi siyempre, she wants me to not just be under her shadow lang. She just wants me to be my own person,” she explained.

With her younger sister Kaila Estrada also following in their parents’ footsteps, Inah said she is thankful she and her sister share a very close bond instead of having any sibling rivalry.

“I’m actually very touched kasi I think my sister’s first taping day for Viral Scandal, tinawagan niya talaga ako. I remember that so well. And her first scene was actually a heavy scene already. So parang morning pa lang, tinawagan na niya ako, ‘Ate, tulungan mo ko,’ ganyan, ganyan. So I just gave her advice and actually I appreciate it kasi sabi ko nga sa kanya, at least you’re scared to ask mom or dad about some things. Kahit ako, I don’t ask my mom or my dad for advice kasi nakaka-intimidate kasi siyempre ang gagaling nila ‘di ba? It helps her also. Sabi ko if she needs anything just call me,” she shared.

When asked which of her parents she would most like to follow in terms of career path, Inah said both of them are inspirations for her in acting. Her father John Estrada is currently seen in the primetime series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo while mom Janice is part of Dirty Linen.

“I would say my mom of course kasi halos lahat ng mga nagawa ko na TV shows, more on the drama side talaga. Pero siyempre as an actress I want to grow, I want to do more challenging roles. I actually want to do more kontrabida roles. So I want to be like both of them. Pero siyemrpe I want to challenge myself talaga as an actress,” she said.
