<p>One of the country’s best impersonators Willie Nepomuceno passed away last July 26.</p><p>After rising in popularity in the ‘80s and ‘90s for his comedy and his satirical impersonations of political celebrities and presidents (most popularly of Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Fidel V. Ramos, Ferdinand Marcos, and Rodrigo Duterte), Willie was regularly seen on local comedy shows. He also came out with several studio albums during his career.</p><p>An announcement of his passing was made by his family in Willie’s official Facebook account where they wrote, “To our family, loved ones, and friends,  It is with deep sadness and heavy heart to announce the passing of our beloved father, WILLIE NEPOMUCENO on July 26, 2023, at the age of 75. He has peacefully joined our creator. We ask for your continued prayers. After suffering from subdural hematoma and undergoing a craniotomy, Willie became comatose. His official cause of death was announced as acute brain hematoma due to head injury.</p><p>WIllie’s son also posted a loving farewell to his father on social media. He wrote, “Farewell, Tatay. Though it’s incredibly hard to say goodbye, I am grateful for the time we had together. Your love, guidance and presence in my life have shaped me into the person I am today. I will forever treasure the memories we created, the laughter we shared and the lessons you taught me. Thank you, Tatay, for your unwavering love and for being an incredible father. Your legacy will forever be engraved in my heart. Me pagka suplado yan, moody, masungit pero unselfish yan. Nung kinasal ako sa una kong kasal, anlaki ng binigay niyan sa’kin then, after 1 year nhiwalay din ako…sabi niya, ‘ako ba naman kasi ang kinuha mong Ninong!’ Taong 1998 yun.</p><p>“Then 2004 kinasal ako ulit kasi fake pala ung una kong kasal at nahiwalay din ng 2013. Sabi niya; ‘Hindi ka talaga nadadala.’ </p><p>“Ngayong 2023 na nadala na’ko at nagtanda. Sabi nya; ‘Wow, kung kelan matanda ka na atsaka ka nagdalaga!’ Tawang tawa ako n’un sa punchline ng Ninong ko. Ang Ninong ko magaling magdeliver ng joke. Kung isusulat mo o babasahin mo ang joke nya, hindi funny pero kasi magaling nga Ninong ko bumitaw ng patawa.  Ganun sya kahusay, hindi lang sa panggagaya!”</p><p>Singer Celeste Legaspi wrote, “My fondest memory of Willie Nep… we were going home after singing in front of Radio Veritas during Edsa days in 1986 and were so hungry we stopped by a small resto. The tv was open and there was an interview of Marcos. He was informing the public that there was a curfew and that we should all go home. Hahaha too late! Then he was told … sir! Sabi ng mga tao Si Willie Nepomuceno daw kayo! Sabihin ninyo Hindi kayo Si Willie! And Marcos said… ahh… Hindi ako Si Willie Nepomuceno… bwahahaha. Rest in Peace Willie good friend. May God bless and comfort your family.”</p><p>‘90s singer Odette Quesada also posted online, “My dear Willie Nepomuceno. You used to jokingly say: ‘How can I miss you, if you don&#x27;t go away.’ You will be forever missed.
