BTS member Jungkook added another feather to his cap after landing in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with his debut solo single "Seven."

He is the second BTS member to land the number one spot on the chart following Jimin whose single "Like Crazy" soared to number one back in April.

Billboard reported that according to Luminate, the K-Pop star's "Seven" gained 21.9 million streams and 6.4 million in airplay. It also earned 153,000 of combined digital and CD singles during its first release week.

In an interview with Variety this July, Jungkook shared how he picked "Seven" as his first solo single.

"Upon hearing 'Seven,' I thought, 'This is it.' After that, I focused on practicing and recording the track multiple times to perfect it. I hope that many people can feel as I felt when I first heard the song," he remarked in the interview. 

Jungkook collaborated with rapper and singer Latto as the featured artist on the track. The BTS member relayed that Latto was recommended to him.

"We thought about who would be the best rapper for this summer song, and one of the producers recommended Latto. So, we reached out to her, and she gladly agreed to work together for 'Seven.' I personally like her rapping voice, and I thought her voice adds another layer of liveliness," he stated.

On what's next after "Seven," Jungkook relayed that he is working on a solo album that he hopes to release this year.

"It’s early to mention anything specific, but look forward to it!" he said.

Jungkook is the sixth member of BTS who made a solo debut after Jin, J-Hope, RM, Suga, and Jimin.

Back in July 2022, Jungkook collaborated with Charlie Puth for the song "Left and Right" which debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jungkook debuted in 2013 as part of BTS.
