Sarah Geronimo chooses traveling over material things

Although both are very active in their respective careers, celebrity couple Sarah Geronimo and Mateo Guidicelli remain frugal in their finances. They invest a lot in their various businesses, put aside money for savings, and also set aside some for personal luxuries. 

Sarah shared that apart from what she needs for work, she doesn’t really splurge on material things. She would rather use it to travel the world. 

“Kahit wala na ‘yung mga material things, basta importante may funds para sa travel and good food,” she said. “We really enjoy traveling and creating beautiful memories.”

This 2023, the couple managed to squeeze in a trip to Thailand where they bonded with elephants and enjoyed the local cuisine. 

In an interview during the media launch of Sarah as Sun Life’s newest brand ambassador last July 1, the couple shared how they would rather spend their hard-earned money. Sarah and Matteo are advocates for better financial literacy among Filipinos as well as other issues close to their hearts. 

 “Just last year, Sarah and I got involved with sustainability,” shared Matteo. 

They actually have a farm in Laguna where they put this into practice. Part of this is growing their own crops for use in their restaurants. 

“We have some arugula, some lettuce, some cherry tomatoes that we grow,” he said. 

The couple consciously practice wellness, such as in how they would regularly work out. May people are aware of how Matteo values his health since he is an athlete, but he revealed that Sarah is just as dedicated to being healthy. 

“Sarah works out all the time! She does yoga a lot, she does pilates, she does the treadmill every night,” he listed. 

“Not a lot of people know that she’s a very strong runner,” he added. “She can do her 5k in around 26 minutes.”

Aside from this, she has also chosen not to eat meat, and has been doing so for several years now. Sarah truly has a soft spot for animals. 

“We already have five dogs,” shared Matteo. 

She also can’t bear seeing any animal in trouble. Matteo recalled a recent incident where they saw two kittens left in the middle of the road, which Sarah insisted they help. They ended up picking up the kittens and bringing them over to their friend who runs a rescue for cats. 

“She’s very involved in animal rights,” said Matteo. 

Sarah is a huge supporter of animal welfare. One organization she supports is Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), a non-government organization that aims to prevent cruelty to and suffering of animals, which includes a crackdown on the dog meat trade.

Sarah is quite active in this advocacy, as seen in her posts on social media. Check out the video she uploaded about her work with the Animal Kingdom Foundation on her YouTube channel, which also features her new song “Habang Buhay.”

Sarah is set to share more of her songs as she goes on stage, this time sharing the spotlight with one of her OPM idols.

“Yung idol mo ngayon kasama mo na sa concert!!,” gushed Sarah in her Instagram post. “Salamat ng marami, Coach Bamboo. Inspirasyon ka naming lahat.”
