Lyca Gairanod has gone on to pursue a career in both singing and acting in showbiz ever since she joined the first season of The Voice Kids in 2014. 

Lyca emerged the winner of the said season at the age of 10,

As seen in her recent vlog on her YouTube channel, Lyca is reminded of her humble beginnings in Tanza, Cavite while going dumpster diving for the first time in the US last month, where she performed in a series of shows. 

Wala lang po, trip trip lang namin ng sister ko. Wala lang, for katuwaan lang din,” she told PUSH during an exclusive interview.

The 18-year-old, who signed on with Viva Artists Agency last year, shared why she will never be ashamed of her past even with the success she is enjoying at the moment. 

“Siyempre super importante nun sa life and lahat ng journey na pinagdaanan ko since sumali ako ng The Voice. So isa din yung nag-motivate na mas tuparin ko pa kung ano pa 'yung gusto ko, gawin ko pa kung ano 'yung pangarap na pangarap ko talaga," Lyca said. "So hindi talaga siya nawawala sa akin kasi inspirasyon at motivation ko po siya. Naku hindi (ako nahihiya). Iba iba man tayo ng pinanggalingan pero ako, kung saan ako nanggaling, proud po ako doon,” she added.

Currently starring in the romantic anthology series For The Love on TV5 in the episode “Anghel,” Lyca said she really wants to be able to show off more of her acting skills starting this year. 

“Siguro ko siguro mas active ako sa acting and then siguro puwede rin natin ipagsabay ang vlog kasi habang nasa set ka pwede ka rin naman mag-vlog. Pareho naman silang goal ko,” she said. 

Having been mentored by one of the country’s top performers during her stint in The Voice Kids, Lyca admitted that she would love to get the opportunity to act with Sarah onscreen in the future. 

“Ayun nga 'yung gusto ko, kahit maging kapatid niya lang ako dun sa movie niya, ganun. Basta makatrabaho ko lang si ate Sarah (laughs). Si ate Sarah kahit saan siya, comedy, drama, lahat naman nagagawa niya. Sana masabayan ko siya," she said. 

"Kay coach Sarah siguro last kita namin kumakain kami, may (party) si boss Vic (Del Rosario) so 'yun lang 'yun last kita namin. Pero ngayon hindi na kami masyado nakakapag-usap. And then 'yung mga ka-batch ko din sa The Voice hindi na rin. May kanya kanya na silang ginagawa, busy na rin sila siguro,” she admitted. 

Looking back at her favorite memories with her coach, Lyca revealed that it was when the Popstar Princess personally invited her to attend one of her premieres in 2015. The film also ended up being Lyca’s favorite film of Sarah. 

“Yung Paano Ba Ang Magmahal. Kasi nung time na linabas 'yung movie na 'yun, binigyan niya ako ng ticket dun sa mismong premiere night. So ginabi gabi na nga ako nun," she recalled. 

"Sabi ko baka hindi na ako makaabot eh. Pero kausap ko si ate Sarah at that time. Kaya isa rin 'yun sa pinakapaborito kong movie na 'yun. Siyempre may mga aral talaga pag si coach talaga yung gumawa ng movie,” she added.
