Singer Jay R is mourning the death of his father, Gaudencio “Jun” Sillona Jr., who passed away on August 12 at the age of 92.

Jay R — whose real name is Gaudencio Sillona III — shared the sad news of his father’s death in an Instagram post over the weekend.

“Love you dad. See you again on the other side,” he wrote.

Jay R’s wife, actress Mica Javier, also penned a touching tribute to her father-in-law on social media.

“Not everyone gets to meet someone born in 1931 but I’m lucky & grateful I got to know you and spend time with you Daddy Jun,” she wrote. “You were a treasure—I will always remember your strength (ang tatag niyo po), tenacity and cool calm presence, especially the sound of you playing classical piano for hours on end.”

“’Yung pinagluto nyo po ako ng fried egg at spam pang-almusal, ‘yung long walks natin sa village sa Manila, tapos sa dining table lagi ko po kayong tinatanong tungkol sa kwentong kabataan niyo pero konting kwento lang po, tatawa lang po ng maliit, tapos tahimik na naman po kayo. Na-enjoy ko po yung moments na ganun.”

“Thank you for accepting and loving me as your own. You’re in great company now, please say hi to my mama & tito Danny for me. Love you po!! Godspeed,” she added.

Several friends of Jay R shared their condolences in the comments, including Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Iza Calzado, Jolina Magdangal, John Prats, Coleen Garcia, Jona, and more.

Last January, Jay R shared photos of himself with his father to celebrate his parents’ milestone wedding anniversary.

“Happy 52nd anniversary to you mom and dad. Thanks for loving us and showing us how to be best we can be. We love you so much,” he wrote.

He also shared a throwback snap of himself with his dad back in 2021. The image shows Jay R as a child, looking at the camera while holding his father's hand.

“Minutes moves so fast. But I’m glad I was able to capture this moment in time,” he captioned the photo.
