‘Love in Taipei’ author shares how her trips to PH inspired her creative works

<p>&quot;Loveboat, Taipei&quot; author Abigail Hing Wen shared that her previous trips to the Philippines served as one of her inspirations for her creative pursuits. </p><p>Abigail&#x27;s novel has been adapted into a film titled <em>Love In Taipei</em> which stars Ashley Liao, Ross Butler and Nico Hiraga.</p><p>In an interview with TFC News, Abigail, who was born in the US, shared that she used to visit the Philippines where her mother grew up.</p><p>When asked if those travels inspired her creative pursuits, she replied: &quot;I was always very struck by how different our worlds were. I think just having that cultural perspective, people from other parts of the world don&#x27;t see the world the same way we do. So, she speaks Tagalog fluently. I learned a little bit when I was growing up,&quot; she said.</p><p>The author added: &quot;I did just find out I&#x27;m actually Filipino citizen because if you are born of a Filipino citizen, you are a Filipino citizen, and my mom was a Filipino citizen at the time I was born in the States.&quot;</p><p>Talking about her creative process, Abigail shared that she usually jots down her ideas, adding that she often writes in the morning.</p><p>&quot;I have a million ideas all the time every day so I have to write them down because if I don&#x27;t write them down, I lose them So I have on my phone just notes for each of my various projects,&quot; she said.</p><p>&quot;I do tend to write in the mornings, 9 to 12. I used to write at night, 9 to 12. I feel itchy if I haven’t written, but it’s taken me long to understand that about myself. I just have to know what my tics are. I would turn to my husband and I&#x27;m like, ‘I need to write. I feel weird, I haven&#x27;t written today.&#x27;&quot;</p><p><em>Love in Taipei </em>is now streaming on Paramount+. Abigail also serves as one of the executive producers of the film.</p>
