Lovi Poe on most people in relationships

<div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>While many people know her nowadays as Mokang, Coco Martin’s feisty leading lady in <em></em></span><a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/batangquiap"></a><span><a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/batangquiap"><em><strong>FPJ’s Batang Quiapo</strong></em></a></span><span><em><strong><u></u></strong></em>, Lovi Poe admitted that it took a while to get into character after she took on the role of Charlie in the Netflix hit <em>Seasons</em>.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>Having shot the film even before she even got involved in the <em>Batang Quiapo</em> series, Lovi said it took a bit of time for her to shed her Charlie persona with her even dressing up as her character for weeks after they wrapped up filming.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>“As an actor, you really have to find ways to not take home your character. But it happens to me all the time, especially if you&#x27;re playing your character every day on a daily basis,” Lovi explained.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>The actress recalled: “When I was doing <em>Seasons,</em> it took a few weeks after playing this character that I was still dressing like Charlie and I was moving like her.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>“It takes a while to break free from the character especially if you enjoy it. I loved playing Charlie because first of all, I&#x27;ve done dramas and different films, but I feel like this is my first romantic-comedy vibe kind of story. That&#x27;s why I was so happy when I was doing it and so it took me a while to break free from her, but I had to because she&#x27;s a bit crazy in a good way,” Lovi laughed while answering.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><em><span>Seasons</span></em><span> is extra special to Lovi for another reason. She came up with the story and Dwein Baltazar (<em>Exes Baggage, Third World Romance</em>) wrote the script. </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>“I came up with the concept of <em>Seasons</em> not because it happened to me in real life. I&#x27;ve never had a relationship where I&#x27;m like best friends with someone and I fell in love with the person. But I basically came up with this story because we all make mistakes in our lives and it&#x27;s inevitable for us to face the consequences of our mistakes. It&#x27;s just something that we have to deal with.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>“But it&#x27;s very rare for people to take full responsibility for their mistakes. We always find someone to blame and you know in a relationship, basically it&#x27;s always we point [to others] instead of you know, being accountable of our mistakes,” the actress said of how she came up with the story.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>Lovi added, “It&#x27;s just that [people] always are ‘I blame this person, I blame that…’ and so I came up with this story because it&#x27;s kind of like me saying that I take full responsibility for my mistakes in the past. You know it may not be like this story of Charlie, but it&#x27;s kind of like just owning up to my mistakes.”</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>The idea of a flawed character who can own up to his/her own shortcomings is what appealed to her about the story. “I wanted someone to remind people that we&#x27;re human, we make mistakes, and we won&#x27;t sometimes cheer for what they do.”</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>The actress, who recently got married to Monty Blencowe, also had some advice—from her viewpoint as Charlie—for people who want to move on.</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span> </span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span>“I&#x27;m going to speak from Charlie&#x27;s point of view that sometimes we have to take full responsibility for our actions. If we do that, then at some point we&#x27;ll come to the point where we accept our situation. Most situations are not usually ideal, but you know in this situation like this, if you love someone and really love someone you just have to learn how to let go. Because sometimes I think true love is when you&#x27;re happy for the person. As long as you see them happy even if it&#x27;s not with you.”</span></div><div style="margin:0cm;color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> </div>
