This September 2023, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is celebrating the 3rd Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM). An Awarding Ceremony will be held on September 29, 2023 at the Acacia Hotel Manila during the Closing Ceremony.

In line with the theme “Tuloy pa rin ang Tawanan”, the FDCP will give honor to a handful of Filipino comedians who have contributed to the country’s entertainment industry through their wit and humor. These personalities are considered icons and are recognized as significant not just to the landscape of Philippine comedy but to the country’s pop culture as a whole.

Beethoven Bunagan, more popularly known as Michael V or Bitoy, has been part of the industry for over three decades now. Aside from being part of Bubble Gang, the longest-running comedy show in the country, Michael V has entertained millions through his portrayal of characters such as Angelina’s Yaya and Mr. Assimo, among others. He has also regaled the audience with his rendition of familiar songs, skillfully written with his own blend of satire, comedy, and and understanding of the human condition.

In that time, she has explored a wide range of acting: from slapstick to dramatic. Best known for her maternal role in the Ang Tanging Ina movie franchise, Ai-Ai also keeps busy by doing comedy shows here and abroad.

To cap off the 3rd Philippine Film Industry Month, the industry will hold a grand tribute to Dolphy, the multimedia artist who represents the brightest of Filipino comedy, and confer him with FDCP’s Highest Honors.
