And then four years old puro kotse. Tapos dire-diretso yan. Hindi ko iniimpluwensiyahan mag-motor sport pero dun din siya napunta. Siyempre yung mga karerang ina-attendan niya sa Batangas Racing Circuit at saka sa Clark ‘di ba? He’s always there, laging kasama nating nanunuod. Yun din ang gusto niya.</p><p>“Hindi ko naman na-influence yung bata. Hilig lang niya talaga. It’s in him and yung mga sinasalihan niya in the beginning when he was 18, he tried drag racing sanctioned events. Pagka drag racing straight line lang yan di ba? So he was enjoying it. I didn’t expect na magugustuhan niya all throughout.</p><p>“Kami yung nagulat eh kasi meron yung mga bata. It’s a gift. It’s a special gift given so it’s our responsibility as magulang to nourish and develop that.  andito kami sa sitwasyon na yun na ibibigay yung support kasi we see the potential in them. He’s always guided naman, to borrow cars in the garage and try it out. He would go karting local, minsan international susubukan niya and then ikukuwento niya sa akin. Ever since, ang hilig nung bata parang ako eh. And then si Toyota tumatawag, sabi, ‘Sir Jom, baka ho meron kayong sepanx?’ Sabi ko, ‘Ano yung sepanx?’ Hindi ko pa nga alam eh. ‘Eh kasi ho yung Toyota Corolla ninyo nung panahon ninyo eh pinamana niyo na sa anak niyo.’ Nag-viral kasi it was on Instagram and all that. He’s very active. He likes the brands that I used to use nung former racing team ko. These are mostly Toyota TRD and Toms. But Jomari makes sure to guide his son towards becoming a professional and safe driver.</p><p>“Yung fear naman sa magulang hindi mo naman matatanggal. Lagi naman may fear yan. Lalo na pag competitive racing. It’s how you handle it lang din eh kasi it’s not just a hobby or a sport. It’s a full commitment. If you really want to compete, you have to go to yung level na professional.</p><p>“And when you say professional, it’s about spending a lot of money. Where do you get it? You don’t get it from your pocket. You get it from sponsors and ang mag-fu-fuel sa iyo is of course yung talent mo, image mo, kung papano ka pini-present. Para kang produkto, model product. Pag mas nananalo ka, mas darating ang sponsors. Kasi pag-hobby hobby lang hindi naman namin kaya gastusan yan. So yung pinu-push ko kay Andre, towards the right direction na you put it sa level ng professional para dun ka sa direction na napakaganda,” he explained. </p><p>With the country’s biggest motorsport event currently ongoing in Okada Manila until August 6, Sunday, Jomari shared how excited he is to watch his son compete.</p><p>“Sa Sunday ang competition niya. Maliit na track naman yung mabubuo natin sa boardwalk. It’s a small na layout pero good competition at saka kotse niya na so he doesn’t have to prepare his car. Matuto siyang mag-prepare ng car ngayon. Kami support lang, nuod lang. Meron talagang potential yung bata. Pag merong gift ng talent, siyempre responsibilidad namin na i-support at pagbigyan ng pagkakataon para ma-develop nila yung gift nila. As far as Andre is concerned, gifted talaga yung bata. Meron siya. Nasa dugo, meron talaga. Mataas yung instinct pagdating sa motor sport at saka competitive racing,” he said.</p>
