Tickets for ‘Hamilton, The Musical’ in Manila to be sold via digital lottery

“It’s important that theater is accessible for anyone who wants to see it,” said Hamilton producer Michael Cassel.

With this in mind, limited tickets to the highly-anticipated musical will soon be up for grabs via digital lottery at a fraction of the price.

“The digital lottery, created for Hamilton fans on Broadway, has been embraced with tremendous enthusiasm wherever the show has played all over the world, and we know fans in Manila will be exactly the same,” shared Michael. “The digital lottery allows us to introduce this transformative experience to people who may not have been able to see it otherwise.”

It was in March 2023 that GMG productions released a teaser video where award-winning playwright Lin Manuel-Miranda officially announced the staging of Hamilton in Manila. “I’m so excited to officially announce that Hamilton will be making its Asian premiere in the Philippines,” he declared. 

Lin Manuel-Miranda’s Hamilton is a musical about the life of one of America’s founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton. It features a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and show tunes. It was first staged on Broadway in 2015, then in North Amerca in 2016, then in London’s West End in 2017. It bagged 11 out of 16 nominations at the prestigious Tony Awards, and has also won the Grammy, the Olivier Awards, and the Pultizer Prize for Drama.

The renowned musical is now on its first-ever international tour. It is making its way to Asia, with Manila being its first stop. 

Hamilton will be playing at The Theatre at Solaire beginning September 17, 2023. The country’s very own Rachelle Anne Go will be reprising her role as Eliza Hamilton in the Philippine production. 

GMG Productions announced ticket prices and show dates last April 15, 2023. To allow more people access, purchases were limited to only six tickets per transaction. 

Throughout the season, a limited number of tickets will be sold through lottery where winners will have the chance to purchase two orchestra tickets (which are originally being sold at over ₱8,000) at only ₱800 each.

The digital lottery will first open at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023 and will last until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. The tickets to be sold then will be for the performances in the week of September 17 to 24.

This system will repeat weekly, with the lottery open from Monday to Wednesday to sell limited tickets for the following week’s shows.

Those who are interested must sign up at TicketWorld to receive Hamilton Lottery entry access.  The lottery will open at 10 a.m. every Monday and will close at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday prior to the following week’s performances. A one-entry-per-week limit will be applied.

Every Thursday at 12 p.m., TicketWorld will notify the winners for the upcoming week’s performances via email with a one-time-use promo code and a purchase link. This will expire at 12 p.m. of the day after the email was sent.
