Andrea Brillantes explains why she wants to work solo

Senior High actress Andrea Brillantes shared how going solo in her acting career helped her improve her skills and boost her personal growth.

During the Senior High finale media conference at the Dolphy Theater in the ABS-CBN Compound last January 9, the Kapamilya star explained why she prefers working as a solo actress after years of being paired with different actors.

“I think nagsisimula po siya, nagstart pa lang kasi ako ng acting ko at the age of 7. Parang nagkaroon na rin ako ng kaunti-kaunting partner sa Annaliza, I was 10. Si Grae (Fernandez), si JK (Juan Karlos) then actually naging partner ko before,” Andrea told the press.

“Ang dami ko pong pinagdaanan sa mga shows ko na lagi akong may nakakapartner tapos noong nagkaroon ako ng opportunity na parang pwede na ako mag-solo artist parang gusto ko siya iexplore,” she added.

Andrea also shared that she started to get to know herself even more and got to meet and learn from different people with her solo acting ventures.

“Tapos ngayon super ko po siyang nae-enjoy lang at mas nakikilala ko kasi yung sarili ko at yung sarili ko bilang isang actress at mas marami na po ako pwedeng paglaruan at mas marami na po ako pwedeng makatrabaho na bago,” she said.

The 20-year-old actress also noted that as early as now, she wants to explore more and avoid being dependent on an on-screen partner.

“Parang ang tagal ko na kasi maraming partner. I want something new at habang mas bata pa ako, mas madali pa mag-explore and habang di pa ako super sanay na maging super dependent din po sa, for example, kung magkakapartner din po ako,” she remarked.

She continued, “I think, personally mas nakakakita ako ng personal growth kapag mag-isa po ako.”

Andrea then clarified that she has nothing against being in a love team and she still supports everyone who is part of one.

“Support po ako sa mga love teams. Nothing against them,” she said.

In an interview with PEP last year, Andrea clarified that she and Kyle Echarri are not a love team, although their characters in the hit series are in a brewing romance.

"Sobrang thankful kami sa KyDrea, they've been here for so long. They waited for this project and we're super happy that we're together in this project,” Kyle said.

Andrea then clarified, “We're super happy that we have KyDrea supporting us, pero di kami nagbebenta ng love team.”

She added, "Ang magagawa lang namin is to clarify sa lahat ng tao na di talaga kami love team, and we are really best friends. Wala naman kaming pinapaasa na tao."
