Choi Woo-shik to star in Netflix thriller series ‘A Killer Paradox’

Choi Woo-Shik is set to star in the upcoming Netfix thriller series A Killer Paradox.

Netflix released the official teaser of the series on Thursday, January 11.

The teaser shares the preview of the story about an ordinary man who becomes a serial killer and is pursued by a detective who wants to catch him.

Fans were quick to react to the teaser.

"I love this kind of role for Choi Woo-shik, he always served!" one fan commented.

"I'm looking forward to this. Choi Woo-shik is a very amazing actor," another fan wrote.

In the show, Woo-shik portrays Lee Tang, a regular university student, who chillingly transforms from an average person into a killer.

Woo-shik will star in the show alongside Son Suk-ku, who takes on the character of Jang Nan-gam, a determined detective with keen instincts. He portrays a conflicted character who is dedicated to chasing down Lee Tang.

A Killer Paradox is adapted from Kkomabi’s popular webtoon, sharing the same title. This webtoon has won several awards, such as the New Artist Award at the Korea Contents Awards, the Jury Prize at the Reader’s Cartoon Grand Awards, and the Today’s Korean Cartoon Award.

Woo-shik previously portrayed a dark role in the 2018 film The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion. The Korean actor portrayed the role of Gwigongja.

In a previous interview with Korea JoongAng Daily, Woo-shik shared that playing a villain was something he aspired to do.

"I want to be a villain. I tried that in The Witch and it was really fun because I think and do these things that I would never do in my ordinary life. So sometimes it’s a thrill. I want to be a really powerful villain at some point," he said.

Meanwhile, the last series Woo-shik did was the romantic-comedy series Our Beloved Summer which was also streamed on Netflix.

Other acting projects of Woo-shik included the Oscar Best Picture winning film Parasite, Time to Hunt, The Policeman's Lineage, Fight for My Way,  and Okja, among others.
