Star Cinema warns netizens on illegal streaming of ‘Rewind’

 Film production companies Star Cinema, APT Entertainment, and AgostoDos Pictures have released an official statement regarding the unauthorized circulation of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Rewindon various social media platforms. 

They have issued a warning that individuals who have already illegally uploaded or will upload the film on the internet will face legal consequences.

Rewind is now in its third week of showing in cinemas nationwide. 

The film is the highest-grossing film during the MMFF run from December 25 to January 8 based on an unofficial tally.

“Mariing tinututulan ng mga producer ng Rewind ang anumang uri ng pamimirata,” Star Cinema shared in a joint statement with APT Entertainment and AgostoDos Pictures.

The three film outlets are continuously removing illegal copies found online on various websites and social media platforms, including TikTok.

“Ang Star Cinema, APT Entertainment, at AgostoDos Pictures ay kasalukuyang gumagawa ng mga legal na aksyon laban sa mga indibidwal na nakikiisa sa anumang uri ng pagbebenta, pagpo-post, at pagshe-share ng pelikula,” the statement read.

The three companies asserted that they won’t tolerate any form of piracy and users who are found guilty of uploading illegal copies will be charged with a criminal offense.

“Ang sinumang mapatunayang lumabag sy haharap sa parusang aabot ng siyam (9) na taong pagkakakulong at pagmumultahin ng hanggang isang milyon at limang daang libong piso (PHP 1,500,000),” the statement closed.

The MMFF film will expand its international screening as well and it is set to screen in New Zealand and Australia this January 18.

The film has already been screened in Canada and the US following requests from fans from other countries. 

Rewind stars real-life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes play the roles of Mary and John, respectively, in the film. 

The MMFF movie created a buzz on social media with fans sharing their emotional reaction to the scene featuring two famous actors.
