The gross sales of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival reached PHP1 billion in gross receipts.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that as of January 7, the film festival had breached the billion-peso mark.

"Truly, MMFF 2023 is a certified box office hit. This is a good sign as we gear up for the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF)," MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Overall Concurrent Chairman Atty. Don Artes said, as published on the social media pages of MMDA.

Due to the high demand for an extension from moviegoers, the film festival will also be extended until January 14. It was supposed to conclude on  Sunday, January 8.

"We at the MMFF would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who have supported us and watched the movie entries, particularly those who requested the MMFF movies to extend beyond their original run," Atty. Artes remarked.

"Marami pong salamat sa inyong patuloy na pagtangkilik. Moviegoers, may mga karagdagang araw pa para panoorin lahat ng MMFF entries," he added.

This year's MMFF feature ten movies including Family of 2 (A Mother and Son Story) starring Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards, (K)Ampon starring Beauty Gonzalez and Derek Ramsay, Penduko starring Matteo Guidicelli and Kylie Verzosa, Rewind starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, Becky and Badette starring Eugene Domingo and Pokwang, Broken Heart’s Trip starring Christian Bables and Andoy Ranay, Firefly starring Alessandra De Rossi, Euwenn Mikaell, and Dingdong Dantes, GomBurZa starring Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, Piolo Pascual, and Cedrick Juan, Mallari starring Piolo Pascual and Janella Salvador, and When I Met You in Tokyo starring Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon.

All ten entries will also be screened in Los Angeles, California at the Manila International Film Festival, which will be happening from January 29 to February 2.

“Through the MIFF, we can showcase, promote, and help uplift Filipino films from the Philippines to Hollywood, and hopefully, to other parts of the world,” Atty. Artes stated in a press release by MMDA in October 2023.

“MIFF also aims to bridge the gap between two worlds and connect the Philippine entertainment sector to Hollywood and the global stage," he added.
