A Filipino singer is set to bring his talents to the global scene as he joins the rest of the contestants in the upcoming South Korean reality show, Universe League. A member of P-Pop group PLUUS, singer JL will try his luck as the lone Filipino who will be joining the said competition.

A total of 42 contestants will be eyeing to make it to the final line-up that will be debuting as a boy group in the future.

JL, who debuted back in 2023 under SBTown and is the youngest member of PLUUS, will be the sole representative of the Philippines and will compete with several other contestants coming from South Korea, China, Japan, and Thailand, among others.

His teaser photos for the survival show were uploaded on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the program. It has already gained more than 300,000 views as of this writing, garnering one of the most number of interactions on the social media platform.

Meanwhile, PLUUS extended their support for their member on their official social media accounts. They asked their fans to give some love to JL as he competes in the reality show.

“Show your support to our dearest JL,” PLUUS shared in their social media accounts.

Fans of the P-Pop member showed their unwavering support in the comment section and vowed to do their best to make sure he will reach the final line-up.

“hoping that some koreans will vote him 🥹 galingan mo b, laban lang! ipakita mo ang galing at charms mo sa knetz, surely they'll fall in love with u jl,” a fan wrote.

“Good luck, JL. If this is a contest I’m sure you’ll amaze us all and we’ll see you at the finish line,” another fan added.

Universe League is on its second season and the male counterpart of the successful reality show, Universe Ticket, which was aired earlier this year. The aim of the show is to form a new group that will serve as the male counterpart of UNIS.

UNIS currently has three members of Filipino descent–– Elisia Parmisiano, Gehlee Dangca, and Jin Hyeon-ju.

The show is set to air on November 22. Additional details such as streaming platforms outside South Korea for the competition have yet to be announced.
