EXO member Chanyeol blew away his Filipino EXO-Ls and Yeolmaes in his recently concluded Chanyeol Live Tour City-scape last Saturday, October 19.

Presented by the local concert organizer PULP Live World, Chanyeol brought the fans into their Neverland with stunning performances and memorable moments that he shared with them as he visited the Philippines after his military service.

Here are reasons that prove Chanyeol is “on our side”:

Chanyeol, the rockstar

Chanyeol showed his rockstar vibe with his incredible electric guitar performance. During the second set, Chanyeol played ”Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. As an extra treat, he also played The Eagles’ “Hotel California” and Green Day’s “Basket Case”.

“You guys are singing already. I like it,” he said in appreciation of the crowd’s enthusiastic response. “Well, honestly, I don’t need to say it anymore. These songs have a lot of memories.”

Chanyeol and his Filipino core

EXO-Ls and Yeolmaes have been teasing Chanyeol as a “certified Filipino” after coming back to the Philippines for the fourth time. He even said that he wanted to have his own house in the Philippines.

During his welcome meet, Chanyeol expressed how happy he was to meet his Filipino fans once again. “What’s up, Manila! Long time, no see. I’m Chanyeol. Good to see you again! Did you guys having fun? Me too,” he said.

He even greeted them in Filipino, saying, “Magandang gabi! Kamusta? Namiss ko kayo! Salamat po!”

Chanyeol shared how he arrived in the Philippines three days prior to the event, and that he was able to eat quite a lot of the local fare, especially his favorite Philippine mango.

In his previous visits, Chanyeol was known to enjoy performing Yeng Constantino’s “Hawak Kamay” for his Filipino fans, but he did not do so this time around.

“Do you guys thought that I would be singing ‘Hawak Kamay’?” he asked laughingly. “Sorry. No more ‘Hawak Kamay’.”

Instead, he suprised everyone with a special performance of Lola Amour’s “Raining In Manila”.

“Is it good? Do you like it? One more?” he said as per the translator.

He liked the song so much that he sang it twice.

“It’s actually my first time listening to this song as I prepared for this song and I really like the song,” he said. “I guess it’s a very popular song, right?”

Chanyeol, the “pogi”

During the ‘behind the photo stories’ segment, Chanyeol shared some personal photos which had fans chanting the Filipino word ‘pogi’ (meaning ‘handsome’) and making him smile even wider.

Having been in the Philippines before, he was already familiar with the word that he even chanted along with his fans.

“Pogi?” he asked, pointing to himself. “Thank you. Salamat po!”

Chanyeol gave back the compliment to his fans, saying “Ang ganda niyong lahat! You guys are such good singers. I love it.”

Chanyeol, EXO-Ls Peter Pan

Chanyeol always made sure that his time with Filipino fans would be  magical and memorable as he performed some of his hit songs such as  “Good Enough,” “Minimal Warm,” “Yours,” “Tomorrow” and “SSFW”. He also sang songs from his and co-member Sehun’s subunit album and a special medley of his K-pop group EXO like “Just Us 2”, “Nothin’,” and “Telephone”.

He followed it with a performance with his fans on his collaboration song, “Stay With Me”, which was part of the official soundtrack of the popular Korean drama series Goblin.

Chanyeol also had his first performance of his debut album tracks such as “Back Again,” “Ease Up”, “Black Out,” “I’m On Your Side Too”, and “Hasta La Vista” on the Philippine stage.

He also made sure that his Filipino fans knew how to perform his special song “Clover” by teaching it to them personally.

Chanyeol also included a medley performance of EXO songs “Lotto,” “Monster,” “Obsession,” “Growl,” “Hear Me Out” and “Just As Usual”.

Chanyeol and his love for the Philippines

Chanyeol is very vocal in expressing his love for the Philippines every time he visits the country. “Thank you so much for all of you coming here tonight. You know, because of you guys, every process from the preparation until right now is so much fun. Next time that I’ll be coming back to the Philippines, I will be preparing another new song,” Chanyeol promised his fans.

Chanyeol also expressed that he really didn't want to go back to South Korea, but he had to. However, if fans want to see him once again, he will surely go back again.

“I really don't wanna go home,” he said in English. “But of course, if you guys call me back, I will fly anytime to be here. Any time. Any time, right?”

He reiterated how special his fans were to him, saying: “You guys are my only four leaf Clover… and Zzar (his dog)."

Ending his first solo stage, Chanyeol had some last minute reminders for his fans.

“Today I was really, really happy. Have a good rest. Eat a lot of yummy foods. Take a good care of yourself,” he said. “I will also take care of myself. Don’t worry. I’m doing good. Every day. Thank you.”

“Don’t feel so bad because I’m always so gonna be ready to be back anytime with a good music,” he added. “We are one. EXO. Saranghaja. Mahal kita”
