While the second "semester" of Bar Boys: A New Musical continues its run until November 3, the main cast of the show expressed how it tries to help contribute to Philippine society through their storytelling. The four stars–– Benedix Ramos, Alex Diaz, Jerom Canlas, and Omar Uddin–– shared what they’ve learned personally and what they want the audience to take home after watching their show.

Bar Boys: A New Musical is on a limited run from October 4 to November 3, 2024, at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati. This is the first rerun of the musical following its successful one earlier this year.

For Benedix, the storytelling of their musical is what gets him going. He claimed that due to the constant changes in society, they are able to tell a fresher story while preparing for the musical.

“Bar Boys would always be relevant to our society kaya it will always get better–– it could only get better as we get along the years. Maraming mga bagay pwedeng pag usapan at talakayin kaya siguro nagiging better siya kasi nakakarelate tayong lahat sa mga problema ng society,” Benedix shared.

While there were minor changes to the musical, Jerom added that nothing drastic was changed in order to preserve the main focus of the story.

“Alam naman naming may pangil itong dulang to at kailangan namin kagatin at sana makagat din nila. This play only gets better because the play reflects the society–– our society. It’s a microcosm of Philippine society. Whatever happens in our daily lives, in the government system [or] the justice system, you’ll see it here,” Jerom added.

Meanwhile, Odin maintained that they don’t feel any pressure in selling out the show’s rerun. He shared that they feel more inspired if they would see a lot of people watching the musical for the plot.

“Mas masarap siyang ikwento at sana makita pa ito ng maraming tao. Hindi lang ito para sa mga law students at lawyers, para rin ito sa mga ibang taong gustong tumulong sa mundo. Law school is not the only way to help the world so sana mapanood ito ng mga maraming tao,” Omar continued.

Tickets for the remaining show dates are still available on Ticket2Me.net.
