Michelle Dee on Mental Health Awareness advocacy: ‘It’s a lifelong mission’

<p>Former Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee shared how important it is for artists like her to advocate for Mental Health Awareness.</p><p>As one of the special guests for Team Jhong Hilario, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez’s Magpasikat performance on It’s Showtime, Michelle discussed her personal struggles that challenged her mental health.</p><p>“Sa buhay natin, lagi tayong nabibigyan ng pagraranas na hindi natin ineexpect. Ako po ay lumaki with two siblings in the autism spectrum. Ako rin po may pinagdadaanan. We have to let the light inside of us come out and shine through kasi Filipinas maganda po natin. We just have to stick together to help each other through. Big or small, kaya po natin iyan,” she continued.</p><p>Meanwhile, former Miss International titleholder Kylie Verzosa emphasized the importance of asking people how they feel and checking up on their lives.</p><p>“Napaka-importante ng Mental Health hindi lang para sa atin but para sa iba dahil lahat tayo may pinaglalaban tayo na hindi nakikita ng ibang tao. It’s so important for us to ask (others) questions ‘How are you doing?’ ‘How was your day?’,” she said during her interview in Showtime Online U.</p><p>She added: “I’ve been through that myself so I know how it is to be there, be down there and then pick yourself back up and then you become stronger. It’s an advocacy. Tayo, bilang ams aware tayo amy responsibilidad din tayo an suportahan at tulungan ang isa’t isa.”</p>
