Kapamilya actor Donny Pangilinan revealed the genre of the project he'd like to do in the future with onscreen partner Belle Mariano. During the media conference hosted by showbiz journalist MJ Felipe last October 28, the Can’t Buy Me Love star shared that he wanted to do a deeper role with the Kapamilya actress.

Donny and Belle are starring in a new series, How To Spot A Red Flag, which is set to air on video streaming platform, Viu.

The Kapamilya star shared how he talked with his onscreen partner about having more adult-themed problems as a genre which could showcase how far they’ve gotten since their first project together.

“I’ve talked about it with Belle since we did the high school love [genre] with He’s Into Her tapos nagging medyo after college [genre],” he shared.

The two have acted in several projects together such as He’s Into Her, An Inconvenient Love, Love is Color Blind, and Can’t Buy Me Love, among others.

“So, me and Belle would like to do a project na may konting maturity na talaga–– going through real life problems as adults,” he added.

In the same interview, Donny reasoned that having a more serious-themed series for them both will showcase how they will tackle their characters.

“Something that we can do for the first time yung ganun genre, I think that will also have a different feel in the way that we attack the scene kasi yung chemistry namin magiging iba yun,” he said.

“We’ll be able to deliver our lines differently [as] we go through different characters. Mas magiging deep din yun para sa amin kasi marami kaming pinagdaanan as characters na ganun. More mature take on life,” he continued.

Meanwhile, the Kapamilya star admitted that he personally wants to do a role of an antagonist if given the opportunity.

“What’s interesting is I’ve not played an antagonist role or even a bad guy. I think that will be very challenging, that’s also a good thing to [do] to go out of my comfort zone. Just do something different,” he revealed.

Donny recently signed a new contract with ABS-CBN, signaling his loyalty to the Kapamilya network–– his home for the past eight years.
