Celebrity couple Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert welcomed a new puppy as the newest addition to their family.

In their most recent vlog, Sophie and daughter Avianna were all smiles as they finally met their brown-colored pet dog, Missy — a surprise gift Vin arranged for them.

This comes after they lost their longtime furbaby, Ginger, with whom they spent almost a decade together.

Vin clarified that their new furbaby is not a replacement, but rather a symbol of a new beginning.

“Welcome home, Missy. Not here to fill a space but to start her own story,” they wrote in the video.

The actor shared how the unexpected passing of Ginger affected his family, prompting them to take a short break.

“Kung hindi niyo lang napansin, nawala kami for two weeks ‘di ba, kasi Ginger had been a big part of our lives. Nagsisimula palang kami ni Bianca (Sophie) more than 10 years ago, kasama na namin si Ginger,” he said.

Vin added that the death of Ginger really took a toll on his wife, who has been a longtime dog lover.

“For Bianca (Sophie) kasi, siya ‘yung tipo ng tao na since namulat siya sa mundo, meron na siyang aso sa tabi, like buong buhay niya,” he said.

In the early part of the vlog, Sophie shared that she would revisit Ginger’s memories in her dreams.

As they opened their doors for Missy, Vin expressed his happiness that his family is slowly recovering from the grief, saying: “I realized our home is healing.”

“It has been sad for a long time sobra, parang may kulang. So now, dahan-dahan siyang nabubuo. Hindi mo mapapalitan eh,” he said.

Vin admitted that he was initially hesitant to get a new dog, but even he felt that there was something lacking.

“So nung nawala si Ginger, I took my time. Actually, ako ‘yung parang okay, wag muna tayo mag-aso since also makakatipid nang konti, alam mo yun, pero may kulang,” he said.

“Ako naramdaman ko lang sa bahay na medyo mabigat. I missed the footsteps; I missed the small barks. ‘Yung paghinga ni Ginger na weird, alam mo ‘yun. ‘Yung may dumidikit sayo, nagaaligid kapag may pagkain ka,” he recalled.

For Vin, his wife’s reaction when she met their new pet was priceless.

“Nakita mo naman, ‘di mo naman mababayaran ‘yung happiness na nasa kanya. 'Di mo naman mababayaran ‘yung saya niya kanina. It’s just so nice that our home is healing,” he stated.

Vin and Sophie opened up about the death of their former pet dog in a vlog last June.
