Coldplay singer Chris Martin reiterated that the band's 12th album would be their final one.

In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the singer remarked: "We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Less is more."

He further explained why they've decided to conclude Coldplay with 12 records sharing: "It's really important that we have that limit. First of all, there are only 12, well, there are only eight Harry Potters or seven Harry Potters. There are only 12 and a half Beatles albums. There’s about the same Bob Marley, so all of our heroes."

He went on: "And also having that limit means that the quality control is so high right now, and for a song to make it, it's almost impossible, which is great."

Once Coldplay retires, Chris shared that if they were to do something together again, aside from touring, it would be for something different.

"It'll be a side thing, or it'll be a compilation of things we hadn't finished," he pointed out.

Coldplay is set to release their tenth studio album Moon Music on October 4.

Composed of Chris as the frontman and pianist, Jonny Buckland (guitarist), Guy Berryman (drummer), and Will Champion (percussionist), Coldplay released their debut album Parachutes in 2000.

Among their other albums include A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Mylo Xyloto, Ghost Stories, A Head Full of Dreams, Everyday Life, and Music of the Spheres.

Their hit songs include "Yellow," "Fix You," "Viva La Vida," "Hymn for the Weekend," and "The Scientist," among others

In August, Billboard reported that Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour, which commenced in 2022, had already grossed over $1 billion. The tour sold 9.3 million tickets as of August 25. This made it the highest-grossing and best-selling rock tour in Boxscore history, surpassing Elton John in terms of gross revenue and U2 in terms of ticket sales.
