“My family and I will be moving to the Netherlands sa February naman pero nagkataon na we’ll be releasing an album so we’ll have an album launch. With regards to music hindi naman siya farewell but I think it’s the more of the gigs. I don’t think I can really play as often as we want to here in the Philippines because I will be farther,” she shared during the Being & Becoming presscon.

“Honestly I don’t like flying so I feel like if I’m there na and I’ve settled na, I don’t think I’ll be coming back soon. Hindi ko masasabi, maybe kung may emergency with family here that I may have to come back. Pero I really don’t like flying so parang feeling ko hindi ko talaga magagawa yun going back to the Philippines if ever may show. Kaya may farewell. It’s more of a despedida, you know. Parang it’s a new season so I just want to make it special and to just honor the people that I’ve worked with and celebrate with you through music sa night na yun. So yun yung mangyayari. Party lang, light lang. Intimate concert,” she added.

“Trivia lang about Mav, when she was just in college, she was very young. She used to attend my (cell) group. She was just like my little sister so I mentored her. We would sing together in church. So I asked her if she can sing with me. Si Clara Benin, she’s really a great singer and songwriter so I want her to be part of the concert. Kilala ko kasi yung magulang niya. It’s so nice to see their daughter.

"And then si Gab (Chee Kee) of Parokya ni Edgar. Magugulat kayo kung bakit. Because I have this song ‘Fall on Me’ from our first album and so Gab gusto niya yung song na yun. He made actually a version. Sinend lang niya sa akin. Guitar lang. He sent it to me and the reason I thought to guest him is because nung pandemic sinend niya yun sa akin and then di ba he had cancer and na-ICU siya? That was a year after he sent it to me. And I remembered he said something and then I went to the ICU, I visited him and of course he had mga tubes and we were praying. We thought that was it, the doctor said. I just wanted to encourage him and I asked if he remembered the song and I played ‘Fall on Me’ na siya yung kumanta. So he urged himself through the song. I wrote that during my lowest point of my life and I know that Jesus is there for you and I prayed for him. So now, seeing him so healthy and strong, and I asked him to sing with me, ‘Fall on Me,’ together. So ayun. Kakanta kami with Paolo Bernaldo who is the original bassist of Moonstar88 and we co-wrote kasi this song,” she explained.

When asked if her songwriting process has changed after more than two decades in the industry, Acel explained how her new album will be different from her usual sound.

“Ang tagal ko na sa industry, almost 30 years. Before, lyrics muna or melody and then I hum and then I write the lyrics. But now, may mga songs na sabay. When I come up with a line and then with melody at the same time. With this album, I worked with the songs here, majority with Sean Gonzales and I like yung medyo madami yung strings and it’s more light. Hindi na siya yung sa known ako as Moonstar88 na pop rock. Hindi na.

"Siguro pag tumatanda ba nagiging mas mellow siya? And I want to focus more on the storytelling and the message that I want to convey. So with this album, titled 'Being & Becoming,' the songs actually are like more of being honest and vulnerable and share some of my struggles before when I was younger. And sometimes bumabalik balik siya but I just want to use the song as a way of therapy sa akin and at the same time kung maka-help ako sa person who is going through the same thing then mas okay na I seek to encourage and inspire. So it’s more of identity and self-worth. So the theme of the album is naka-focus dun, of knowing your worth and your value.”
