Filipino-American singer-rapper Apl.de.ap just opened Turo Turo, a Filipino barbeque and grill restaurant in Tooting Broadway earlier this week. The Black Eyed Peas member will bring the Filipino food to the London market alongside his other business partners.

Apl.de.ap took it to his Instagram account to express how excited he is to have a permanent store for the restaurant which he has been working on the past year.

“Over the next year and a half we began talking about how to open @turoturouk into a permanent standalone. I’m proud to say we’re here… If you’re in London - please check us out,” he wrote.

The former Voice Philippines Season 1 coach recalled how he was able to come up with the idea of investing in the business after meeting with the chef.

“This is a picture from the first time I ever got to taste @chefrexdeguzman food. It was located atop a bar with karaoke rooms and I was there with my team getting ready for Masterchef. The food was amazing. Nothing over the top. Nothing pretentiously plated and overpriced. Just good comfort food and bbq,” he added.

Fans of the singer-rapper expressed their congratulatory messages and excitement to try the restaurant out once they’re in the area. Others who are already nearby have given their compliments about the food.

“Amazing! 👏Huge congratulations and feeling very lucky that you chose Tooting! Will be checking it out very soon,” a fan shared.

“Amazing brother,” Black Eyed Peas’ official account added. 

“The food here @turoturouk is bloody tasty and the welcome warm and fun. We ate here earlier this week and I had no idea about the @apldeap @blackeyedpeas connection . Very cool,” another fan raved.

Turo Turo is now serving up authentic Filipino dishes at 102 Tooting High Street in the United Kingdom.
