Netflix confirmed that the show will be released in 2025. "In the fall of 1987, one last adventure begins," the streaming giant shared in the video.

Filming for season 5 was already halfway through last June.

Production for Season 5 kicked off in January. According to Netflix, the writers began working on the fifth season in August 2022, just a month after the release of Season 4, Volume 2.

In addition to the original cast, new stars will be joining the series, including Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, Alex Breaux, and Linda Hamilton.

As for what fans can expect in the upcoming season, series creator Matt Duffer hinted: "We had an idea of what was happening in the Upside Down, but we wanted it to remain unknowable, to keep the mystery alive. However, they pushed us to write it all down, so we did."

In a behind-the-scenes interview released by Netflix last July, the cast members shared their thoughts on the upcoming season of the show.

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays the main character Eleven in Stranger Things, reflected on her journey: "So I started when I was 10. I'm now turning 20 years old. It feels very weird."

Sadie Sink, who portrays Max, remarked: "We're just kind of savoring every single moment."

Jamie Campbell Bower, known for his role as Vecna, hinted at an even grander scale for the new season.

"Season four was big. Season five definitely feels bigger," he shared.

Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas, added more excitement, emphasizing, "Like every season, you never know what to expect. 100% the wait will be worth it."
