To top off your New Year’s resolutions and celebrations, we have just what you need to keep you feeling refreshed and renewed! Many people believe that our rooms are a reflection of the mind. However, so are our closets! Just as we all want to cleanse ourselves of traits, habits, or mindsets we have outgrown or no longer need, it is the perfect time to do some wardrobe spring cleaning. Of course, we know the difficulty of parting with pieces that you might have grown close with or pieces you think you might have a use for in the future. With this in mind, we have created a guide to help in your decision of what to remove and replace it with, if you don’t own the alternative already.

See our list of what to throw, keep, and repeat!

Throw: Low rise cargo pants

Keep: Loose fitting trousers or slacks

Low rise cargo pants are usually only styled a certain way and aren’t that versatile when it comes to places you can wear them in. Keep or replace them with loose fitting trousers or slacks as these can be worn in almost any occasion and can be more easily styled!

Throw: Oddly shaped sunnies

Keep: Classic rectangular sunnies

Sunglasses with odd shapes and sizes, such as mini and oversized ones, lean more towards the trendy side. For a more timeless option that will stay in style and need not be replaced, stick with some classic rectangular sunnies.

Throw: Outdated print T-shirts

Keep: Simple classic tees

Many of us still have T-shirts with outdated prints, or with prints birthed from trends that are slowly dying out. Instead of these, we suggest simple classic tees that are sure to last long and go with almost anything in your closet.

Throw: Midi skirts

Keep: Maxi skirts

Midi skirts are out; they simply lack the drama and the ease of styling that maxi skirts have to offer. Maxi skirts can be styled to be worn casually and, sometimes, even formally.

Throw: Cutout dresses

Keep: Silk dresses

While cutout dresses provide interesting accents, the way they are cut often go out of style easily and are difficult to wear more than once. Stick with gorgeous silk dresses, we don’t see them going out of style any time soon!

Throw: Micro mini bags

Keep: Tote bags

We’re certainly leaving bags that can barely fit our wallets behind. We suggest going for tote bags, which are perfect for holding everything you might need and more. Not only are they cute, but they’re highly functional as well.

Throw: Resin jewelry

Keep: Gold or gold-plated pieces

We saw a high volume of resin jewelry the past few years, but these seemingly cute pieces both cheapen your outfit and are bad for the environment. You can never go wrong with gold jewelry since they go with everything and are sure to elevate your look.

Throw: Cropped jackets

Keep: Relaxed blazers

Cropped jackets defeat its purpose of keeping you warm and are also not that easy to style. We say, replace them with relaxed blazers, which you can wear with anything and are easy to use when layering.

Throw: Chunky platform heels

Keep: Classic slim heels

Chunky platforms aren’t the easier shoe to pair with and if styled wrong, can make your outfit look quite bulky. With its design going in and out of style, we think classic slim heels should take its place. These heels are ageless and are easy to slip onto any outfit. Shop here!
