Tawag Ng Tanghalan alum Keisha Paulo is ready to the step in her singing career as she releases her first single under ABS-CBN Star Music.

In an interview during her artist launch event at Aromata Café in Quezon City, Keisha shared how she felt being launched as a new artist.

“Very happy and we are so excited about the launching that is going to happen and, of course, with the future projects,” the 26-year-old singer expressed.

She also shared in an exclusive interview with PUSH about her new song, "Hanggang Ngayon Na Lang," that was released on Friday, February 23 and now available on all streaming platforms.

“It is a song about a person who is struggling to let go of someone. (This is) something very relatable (to everyone),” she described.

She added, “This was written by Sir Thyro Alfaro. I’m very thankful that Sir Thyro chose me to interpret this song. So, thank you, thank you, Sir Thyro!”

Giving a sneak peek of her future plans, the new singer announced that she will be dropping her first album later in June this year.

“'Hanggang Ngayon Na Lang' is the first single, then we’re going to have a second single and then we’re going to drop an album by June,” she revealed.

She also shared what genres of music she worked on for her upcoming first album and who she would be collaborating with.

“Most likely pop-slash-R&B. We are juggling in those two genres,” she continued, “Most likely yung collaborations ay with the songwriters, so it’s with Sir Thyro and Sir Darryl Reyes.”

Keisha wrote three of the tracks included in her upcoming album with her partner, whom she called "one of her best inspirations in life."

“The three songs that we will also be releasing that are part of the album ay I wrote it with my partner,” she happily remarked.

When asked about her musical influences, Keisha shared how her parents became singers she looked up to.

“My parents are also singers, so I’m very proud to say na yung talent ko nanggaling sa kanila. As early as 4 years old, I had already started singing. I remember my dad asked me before, ‘Ano ang gusto mo maging paglaki mo?’ and I told him, ‘I want to be a famous singer,'” she told PUSH.

“But ang dami pang struggles within how many years but at the end of the day I still, in my heart, I really really wanted to pursue music kahit hindi maging famous singer, but I am very very happy where I am right now,” she added.

Keisha also revealed that, if given a chance, she wants to collaborate with her childhood idol.

“Sarah G (Sarah Geronimo). Doon talaga ako sa mataas agad, pero she’s been my idol (kasi) since I was a kid. Very Kapamilya na talaga ako before so siya talaga yung finollow ko and (still) pina-follow ko up until now,” she excitedly said.

Keisha became known for her impressive performances during her Tawag ng Tanghalan journey where she captivated audiences and became a 5-time defending champion in the competition’s sixth season.

“In Tawag ng Tanghalan, there was a different journey talaga. It was hard. The pressure was different compared to studying ng music in college. Of course it’s a national (competition) and televised. There was pressure. There was fear and also excitement because grabe yung thrilled. I think yung something that I learned kailangan talagang ready ka everyday for anything,” she recalled.
