Sarah Geronimo, Kim Atienza seek justice for dog killed in Camarines Sur

Last Sunday, March 17, pet owner Vina Rachelle Arazas took to social media to share what happened to her three-year-old dog Killua, a Golden Retriever, who went missing from their house earlier that day.In an interview with GMA News, Arazas said her neighbor claimed that the dog had attacked him and then led her to a secluded area on their property where she discovered the body of her dog stuffed inside a sack.Even though there has yet to be any legal action taken against the perpetrator, celebrities and known animal lovers like Sarah Geronimo have spoken up and asked for justice for the poor animal.“This news is extremely heartbreaking. Walang kalaban-laban &#x27;yung aso. Katulad nating mga tao, nakakaramdam din sila ng takot at sakit. Every life deserves respect and protection. It’s time to demand accountability and raise our voices against animal cruelty.“Let’s unite in being the voice for the voiceless.“Killua.. we will fight for you.#JusticeForKillua #VoiceForTheVoiceless #StopAnimalCruelty,” Sarah posted on her X account.The call to unite for justice for Killua was also echoed by TV host Kim Atienza on his own account.“Golden retrievers are the safest dogs to be with kids. You broke the law, you will go to jail, sir. #justiceforkillua,” shared Kuya Kim.As of the moment, animal welfare organizations like the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) have been coordinating with the owner and have offered free legal assistance in filing a case against the killer. According to the the Philippine Animal Welfare Act of 1998 or Republic Act 8485, animal abuse is punishable with imprisonment of between six months and two years, a fine ranging from ₱1,000 to ₱5,000, or both at the discretion of the court.
