<p>Just in time for Women’s Month, Billboard Philippines held its first-ever Women in Music awarding event on Friday, March 22, to celebrate Filipinas who made their mark on the music industry. </p><p>Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid was bestowed with the Power House award. Nakikita mo na nagbabago na ang lahat. ‘Yung dating ikaw ‘yung sinisigawan, ikaw ‘yung nagkakaroon ng hits, nararamdaman mo ‘yun unti-unti na hindi na ikaw. But for me, it’s fine,” she said. </p><p>“Parati ‘pag may nagtatanong sa akin kung ano ‘yung iiwan kong legacy sa industriyang ito, parang feeling ko wala,” she said, prompting the fans to shout otherwise. </p><p>Thanking people for the support, she then continued, “Sa akin po kasi hindi masyadong importante kung meron man akong maiwan or wala. I know na makakalimutan ako kasi ganu’n ‘yun. And it’s fine.” </p><p>“No, no, it’s fine with me kasi ganu’n po talaga ang panahon. Ganu’n po talaga ang industriya. And, it’s not your fault. It’s just what it is. Siyempre binibigay natin ang entablado sa mga sumusunod na henerasyong mga singers at songwriters.”</p><p>Regine turned emotional as she shared what she considers her legacy. “Pero para po sa akin, ang akin pong legacy ay ang aking anak. Buti nga nagkaanak pa ako,” she laughed while holding back tears. </p><p>Aside from Regine, other female artists were recognized at the event. Hosted by Magandang Buhay mainstay Jolina Magdangal, Kapamilya actress Belle Mariano was awarded with Listener’s Choice for her song &quot;Bugambilya&quot;; Morissette with the People’s Choice award; Ena Mori with the Rule Breaker award; P-pop group BINI with the Rising Star award; and Moira dela Torre with the Hitmaker recognition.</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2024/2/24/sarah-geronimo-to-receive-global-force-award-at-billboard-women-in-music-2024-1529" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>READ: Sarah Geronimo to receive Global Force award at Billboard Women in Music 2024</u></strong></a></div><p>Meanwhile, OPM icon Pilita Corales was the Icon awardee while Sarah Geronimo was hailed Woman of the Year.</p>
