K-Pop star Winter takes hiatus after surgery of collapsed lung

<p>K-Pop singer Winter of girl group aespa was revealed to have undergone a surgery for pneumothorax, more commonly known as a collapsed lung, earlier this week. Some cases can be caused by chest injuries, certain medical procedures, damage from underlying lung disease, or no obvious reason. </p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2020/10/27/fresh-scoops/sm-entertainment-introduces-new-girl-group-called-189274" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>READ: SM Entertainment introduces new girl group called aespa</u></strong></a></div><p>SM Entertainment disclosed that Winter went through the procedure. They also assured the public that the surgery went well and that Winter is currently on the road towards recovery.</p><p>“Winter recently underwent surgery for pneumothorax and is currently recovering. As [pneumothorax] is a condition prone to recurrence, [the surgery] was carried out as a preventive measure in accordance with her doctor’s opinion, and the decision was made after plenty of discussion,” SM Entertainment shared.</p><div><a href="https://push.abs-cbn.com/2022/7/9/fresh-scoops/aespa-continues-to-break-records-with-latest-album-201145" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>READ: aespa continues to break records with latest album</u></strong></a></div><p>The South Korean entertainment agency added that they are making sure that the health and recovery of their artist would be the top priority. </p><p>“Regarding her future schedule, we will consider Winter’s recovery status our top priority moving forward,” they added.</p><p>This sudden announcement of Winter’s health comes before the highly-anticipated comeback of the girl group this coming May. Apart from their musical comeback as a group, aespa was set to hold their world tour by the end of June. </p><p>Meanwhile, fans expressed their support towards the South Korean singer in the comment section of her posts. They shared how they are willing to wait for her as long as she gets the rest that she needs.</p><p>Winter made her debut back in 2020 with the girl group aespa which is known for their metaverse concept with ‘Kwangya’ as their focus. Since their debut, the K-Pop group has been making several hit songs which includes Next Level, Spicy, Black Mamba, and Illusion, among others.</p>
