<p>Celebrities and other well-known personalities took a short break to bond over a few rounds of golf at the MVP Cup 2024 held at the Manila Golf and Country Club.</p><p>Actors Derek Ramsay, Aga Muhlach, and John Estrada hit the greens with former Senator Tito Sotto, Coach Jojo Lastimosa, TNT Coach Chot Reyes, Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Executive Director Erika Dy, Leyte 4th District Representative Richard Gomez, and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, along with telecom executives.</p><p>Derek is known for being an avid athlete and indulges in several different sports like soccer, basketball, water polo, and ultimate frisbee aside from golf. He and FPJ’s Batang Quiapo actor John Estrada reportedly bonded over golf, which eventually led to the latter setting him up on a blind date with his now-wife Ellen Adarna. While the two ended their friendship in 2021, their love for golf remained the same.</p><p>Aga has been known to be a regular on the greens. He even bonds with his kids on the golf course. The program seeks to develop and train athletes in the sport so they can also one day step onto the national and international stage.</p><p>“Smart has been known to champion sports and help support athletes from the grassroots to the professional level. We wanted to do the same thing with golf by extending support to the NGAP,” said Alex O. Caeg, Head of Smart Consumer Wireless Business.</p><p>Over 400 participants at the tournament managed to raise ₱350,000 for the NGAP. The symbolic check was presented during the fellowship night led by chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan.</p><p>“It’s always a good feeling to be able to give back to the sports community,” said Kristine A. Go, SVP for Smart Consumer Wireless Business.</p>
