Janella Salvador is playing two characters in her new movie Under Parallel Skies, where she stars alongside Thai actor Win Metawin.

Production company 28 Squared Studios revealed that Janella is portraying the characters Iris and Thea in the film. 

“I think playing two characters isn't a foreign idea to me anymore since nagawa ko na naman siya before," Janella remarked in a press release by 28 Squared Studios. 

She admitted though that it was quite challenging playing dual roles in this film sharing, “Pero siguro in this film medyo challenging siya. Hindi ko na lang sasabihin kung bakit para hindi ma-spoil pero challenging siya because kailangan medyo alike pero at the same time very, very different sila so na-enjoy ko siya."

Further details about the character Thea are still under wraps and it's for the audience to find out when they watch the movie which is now showing in cinemas nationwide.

Under Parallel Skies follows the story of a Thai bachelor named Parin (played by Win) who travels to Hong Kong in search of his missing mother. He encounters a Filipino hotel receptionist named Iris (played by Janella) who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in the foreign city amid their differences in culture and identity.

Shot in Hong Kong from June 2023 to July 2023 with the support of Hong Kong Tourism Board as the film’s destination partner and Cathay Pacific as the film’s airline partner, the movie features iconic local locations including Peng Chau, Avenue of Stars, Kowloon City, and Tai O. The movie is produced by 28 Squared Studios in co-production with Two Infinity Entertainment. 

Under Parallel Skies had its world Premiere in Hong Kong on March 11 as one of the programs of the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards. Lead star Win Metawin also received the Rising Star Award at the awards ceremony. 

Aside from the Philippines, the movie will be released in Singapore on May 1 and in Thailand on May 9. It’s the first romance movie from the Philippines distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
