Win Metawin, Janella Salvador’s ‘Under Parallel Skies’ to be released in more countries and regions

Cross-country film Under Parallel Skies is heading to more countries and regions. Production company 28 Squared Studios announced that due to the rave reviews from the Philippines after it was released on April 17, the movie will be released next in cinemas in Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, and Vietnam.

Starring Thai actor Win Metawin and Filipino actress Janella Salvador, it was previously announced that the movie will also hit the big screens in Singapore starting May 1 and Thailand beginning May 9.

“This film celebrates cross-cultural collaboration and partnership, and we want to share it with more of our neighbors in Asia,” executive producer and 28 Squared Studios CEO Richard Juan remarked.

He went on: “This movie is also a celebration of showcasing Asian talents in front and behind the camera and we are ecstatic that it will be screening in more cinemas across the region.”

Directed by Sigrid Bernardo, Under Parallel Skies follows the story of a Thai bachelor named Parin (played by Win) who travels to Hong Kong in search of his missing mother. He encounters a Filipino hotel receptionist named Iris (played by Janella) who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in the foreign city amid their differences in culture and identity.

On why fans need to catch the movie on the big screen, Win said during the premiere night of the film in Manila: “It got everything - romance, drama, and comedy. I think you will enjoy this film so please support the film.”

Janella added: “We are excited for everyone to see and hopefully people will enjoy the film. We really worked hard for this."

Shot in Hong Kong from June 2023 to July 2023 with the support of Hong Kong Tourism Board as the film’s destination partner and Cathay Pacific as the film’s airline partner, the film features iconic local locations including Peng Chau, Avenue of Stars, Kowloon City, and Tai O. The movie is produced by 28 Squared Studios in co-production with Two Infinity Entertainment.

Under Parallel Skies had its world premiere in Hong Kong on March 11 as one of the programs of the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards. Win also received the Rising Star Award at the awards ceremony.
