Having risen in popularity during the past few years because of his roles in teleseryes on the kapuso network, David Licauco admitted he still considers it a big challenge to act on a movie set rather than taping for a television series.

“Actually parehas sila kasi acting pa rin siya pero I think I lose patience sa maraming takes (laughs). Hindi nga ako sanay dun kasi mahirap yun eh, iibahin mo yung palagi, paulit-ulit. So siyempre, since dun ako nasanay sa teleserye, nanibago ako sa pelikula.

"But of course, yung mga pelikula naman, yung mga movie actors sasabihin nila na ayaw nila ng teleserye kasi dun sila sanay. So magkaiba lang, pero eventually naman pag nagkaroon pa ako ng pelikula, matututo rin tayo diyan,” he shared during the G! LU presscon.

In his latest barkada film G! LU which was shot before the pandemic, David admitted a lot has changed with him since he first worked with co-stars-turned-good friends Derrick Monasterio, Enzo Pineda, and Teejay Marquez.

“Ngayon, iba na, marami nang ibang iniisip. I think yun naman ang malaking difference. I have responsibilities now. Alam naman natin na kapag nagma-mature… Dati iniisip ko lang iinom ako, saan ako pupunta, ano ba yung show ko na next, ano ba yung movie kong gagawin, paano ako magiging ganito, pagkain, barkada. Pagkatapos ko ng taping, iisipin ko naman yung neogsyo ko, 'di ba? 'Tapos, the next day magwo-workout pa ako, then, taping ulit, negosyo ulit. Ngayon, bago ako pumunta rito, galing ako sa negosyo. Pagkatapos, mag-wo-workout pa ako kasi kailangan eh. Tapos, mag-iisip na naman ako para sa negosyo ko. Wala na akong time gumimik,” he revealed.

But when it comes to acting, David admits his goal is to really be taken seriously for his work and hopes to aspire for an acting award in his upcoming historical war action drama series Pulang Araw.

“Siyempre kung magaling naman ko dito, mapapansin din ako. For me, ang role ko dito pang Best Actor or  kahit ma-nominate for Best Actor dahil napakaganda nung proyekto eh. At saka ramdam ko talaga yung character ko dito na gustong may mapatunayan pa, na sabihin natin kung tumigil man ako sa showbiz, masasabi ko na nag-Best Actor ako. Ako yun yung gusto ko gawin. I can’t speak for others naman pero sa sarili ko, gusto ko maging Best Actor dito. Kakayanin naman as long as you put in the work and continue learning the craft,” he explained.

During the event, David also shared his experience shooting his first movie project with current love team partner Barbie Forteza.

“Same same lang naman, ang pinagkaiba lang dun is pupunta kami sa Korea at na-enjoy talaga namin yun. Masaya. Mahilig ako sa Korean food. Mahilig din si Barbie dun. At saka sa movie mas madaming shots dun. Sanay ako sa teleserye. Mas napapagod ako sa movie kasi sa teleserye I would say gusto ko na one take lang. Medyo challenge when it comes to shooting a movie kasi hindi nga ako sanay,” he added.
