"Thank you sincerely to the many people who enjoyed watching, took interest, and loved the drama."

These were the words of Korean actress Kim Ji-won following the success of her series Queen of Tears.

In an interview with her management agency HighZium Studio as translated by Soompi, Ji-won admitted that she was both nervous and sad as the conclusion of the series was approaching.

"I waited with a nervous and excited heart as we filmed for a long period that took all four seasons. To think that [the drama] is already over makes the time feel shorter, and I feel somewhat saddened," she said.

Queen of Tears follows the story of the intense challenges and the surprising renewal of love between Hong Hae-in (played by Ji-won), a wealthy heiress from Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun), a farmer's son from Yongdu-ri, over three years of marriage.

Ji-won remarked that the character of Hong Hae-in would always be memorable for her. 

"Hong Hae-In will remain [in my memories] as a four-leaf clover to me. Actually, there is not that much time that the character spends despairing. Although she has a difficult time, she overcomes it quickly, and she puts in effort to do so," she stated.

She went on: "Hong Hae-In has a lot of love, but she is not very good at expressing it. As the story progresses, she showed how she put in effort to express herself better. I hoped those aspects reached the viewers well, and it would be great if you could remember Hae-In as a 'warmer person than expected.'"

Queen of Tears had its finale episode on April 28. According to a report by The Korea Times as per Nielsen Korea, the K-Drama gained the biggest viewership ratings for a drama in tvN.

In a previous interview with Netflix Global, Ji-won shared that she was impressed by the script when she read it initially that it persuaded her to the series.

"When I fist read the script, I had so many questions. How did this couple's relationship end up like this? Why are they so angry? Why is this person so cold and selfish? What happened? As I kept reading on what started out as curiosity eventually turned into affection for the story," she relayed.

On her favorite scenes in the series, Ji-won relayed that it was the scenes that they shot in Germany.

"[They] were most memorable for me. I had a great time shooting so many lovely and beautiful moments there. It was quite memorable," she said.
