The Outsiders is a musical adaptation of the 1967 novel of American writer S.E. Hinton as well as the 1983 film of Francis Ford Coppola. The musical has a coming-of-age plot that talks about the conflict of two rival gangs, the Greasers and the Socs. Based on the novel, the story is told in a first-person perspective by the protagonist, Ponyboy Curtis.

In an article by American magazine Variety, Angelina previously shared that she hopes to go back to her roots as a performer through producing this musical.

“I hope to be able to contribute while continuing to learn from this amazing team, who I have been working with since my daughter brought me to see the show at La Jolla Playhouse,” she told Variety.
