Martin Nievera signs new contract with ABS-CBN, reaffirms Kapamilya loyalty

On May 19, the Philippines’ “Concert King” Martin Nievera renewed his contract with ABS-CBN. The ceremony was a star-studded event celebrating Martin’s 42-year career.

In attendance were ABS-CBN executives Chairman Mark Lopez, President and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak, COO Cory Vidanes, and CFO Rick Tan, highlighting the significance of Martin’s continued partnership with the network.

Fellow The Voice Teens coaches KZ Tandingan and Bamboo, together with Erik Santos and Darren Espanto, performed Martin’s greatest hits and added to the celebratory atmosphere. Martin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the four. To KZ, he said: “You know how much I love you. I whispered to her, I said don’t ever leave me. Don’t grow up. In other words, don’t leave the house. I love you sweetheart.”

Martin reflected on his journey, stating, “I was Kapamilya when we used to call this station the Sarimanok station. Before the word Kapamilya was ever used, I was already a Kapamilya.”

Messages from fellow artists like Regine Velasquez, Jed Madela, Ogie Alcasid, Bugoy Drilon, Gary Valenciano, and even international music icon David Foster included praises for Nievera’s influence and mentorship.

“I've enjoyed so much of our time together performing, I hope we get to do it lots more. You are truly a national, if not international, treasure,” David Foster said.

“Kung wala si Martin sa buhay ko, my career would not have been the same,” said Gary. “He provided the standard I wanted to achieve.”

Martin’s twin sister, Vicki Nievera, also extended her greetings. She called him “the king of order and organization,”  and ending the reiterated how proud the family is of him.

Martin’s gratitude extended to everyone involved in his career, emphasizing the collective effort behind his success.

“I represent a great amount of talented people you don’t see. This contract is my way of thanking them and glorifying their talents through me,” he said.

In closing, Martin reaffirmed his commitment to ABS-CBN, saying: “Wherever you need me, whenever you need me...I will fix your houses, I will do your laundry, whatever it is, you know you can count on me.”

Martin’s 42nd anniversary concert at the Big Dome this September promises to be a monumental event, celebrating his legacy and on-going journey with ABS-CBN.
