OPM singer and songwriter Kitchie Nadal expressed happiness that her classic hit songs have lately gone viral and become popular again with a new audience.

In a media conference for her upcoming Same Ground: Kitchie Nadal 20th Anniversary Concert, the singer shared her reaction upon hearing about her trending music as well as having more younger fans even after two decades in the industry.

“Nasurprise ako doon kasi like what you said yung iba baby pa lang sila… grade school… Sobrang natutuwa ako. Like I said earlier, it's encouraging for me to write songs and nagugulat ako kasi it resonates to the now, to the new generation. Like I said, one of the reasons why na nagkakaroon kami (ng tour)... Nagugulat din ako na yung mga nanonood mga bata. It’s really encouraging for me to continue making music,” she said.

Two of Kitchie’s popular songs, “Same Ground” and “Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin”, have become viral on social media platforms such as TikTok, where users use the song to tell heartbreaking and personal stories of love and life.

“Sa akin it is very encouraging kasi it means a lot, na pwede pa pala gumawa ng mga songs… and that is actually one of the reasons why I decided to do this anniversary concert, it’s for the new generation (too),” Kitchie remarked.

Meanwhile, Kitchie shared how her songs and music style have evolved and changed throughout the years.

“I feel like my songs now parang meron din akong a conscious effort for my songs to be more positive kasi, for example, the last song I released is called ‘Lahat’, it’s about my motherhood. Mas light na siya, hindi na siya heartbroken,” she happily shared.

She added, “Iba na kasi yung inspiration ko, inspiration ko yung mga anak ko and, of course, my husband. And also yung inspiration ko rin yung music na napapakinggan ko sa Spain. Medyo mas naka-(contribute din sa changes).”

Kitchie now currently resides in Spain. She gave birth to her and her husband Carlos Lopez's youngest child, Iago, six months ago.

Despite being a full-time mom for her two kids, Kitchie still continues making and writing songs.

“For this year I'll be doing collaborative work with different artists, so ayun yung goal ko ngayon,” she shared when asked what to look forward to aside from her concert.

“New songs talaga. I want to release more songs,” she added.

“I just want my songs to be more authentic like with my life now… relatable din, of course, for my (listeners).”

When asked what was the best lesson she has learned in the past decades in her career, Kitchie said that she has learned to be more disciplined and responsible.

“I guess the discipline kasi parang dati nagstart ako sa music scene, it was a hobby… parang hindi talaga ako serious and, of course, as I continue to work with my bands and professional musicians and mga labels, syempre I learned to be more responsible,” she shared.

She also gave some advice to all the aspiring artists who wanted to pursue music, noting that the internet and social media have become their powerful avenue to show their talents and stories.

“Just to make the most of what’s now available, like the Internet. Sobrang useful niyan para ma-promote, even to learn new things, to record and to promote. Internet talaga is very powerful tool to make music and share it to the world,” she shared.

Kitchie went on: “It has changed a lot kasi everybody now may access na sa internet. So it has so many avenues now to promote songs and yung social media syempre, ayun nga isa sa mga weakness ko rin, but I guess iba-iba naman yung strategy ng bawat isang artist… But for me yung mga artist na lumalabas sa social media, that’s really an advantage.”
