Aktor PH shows support for Eva Darren amid FAMAS fiasco

Aktor PH, the league of Filipino actors, expressed their support for veteran actress Eva Darren after the Filipino Academy for Movie, Arts, and Sciences (FAMAS) snubbing issue last May 26. The local organization released a statement on their official Instagram account days after the incident.

The FAMAS Board was under fire on social media after it invited the veteran actress as a presenter for the awards night held on Sunday, May 26, but failed to bring her on stage due to an alleged miscommunication.

In their statement, Aktor PH shared how saddened they are over the event that transpired. They added how ironic it was as the FAMAS awards night was supposed to showcase the iconic pillars of the Philippine entertainment industry but failed to do so with Eva.

“An awards night is a moment of celebration, extending beyond mere victory and trophies. It serves as a gathering for the entire community, offering a chance to unite and acknowledge the talents and artistry of each member,” the statement read.

“It is ironic that the event last Sunday, which was supposed to honor the iconic pillars of the country, was marred by an unfortunate incident that happened to one of our respected and beloved peers during a celebration with industry members at one of the oldest award-giving bodies,” they continued.

Aktor PH added that they are “deeply saddened” with the “seeming lapse in the management of the program.” The organization then extended its “warmest support and solidarity” towards the veteran actress.

“We aspire to revive the genuine essence of these events and bring back the glory of these gatherings, by fostering intimate celebrations that recognize excellence and embrace individual without the fear of exclusion and discrimination,” they added.

The FAMAS Board has apologized to Eva and her family to which the latter accepted. Several celebrities have thrown in their support towards the veteran actress and demanded more actions from the award-giving body.
