Celebrity chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay revealed that he had a cycling accident.

He made the revelation in a video he posted on his Instagram page last weekend.

"This weekend unfortunately I really had a bad accident and it really shook me and honestly I am lucky to be here," he remarked.

Gordon showed the big bruise on his torso. "I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain, it’s been a brutal week, and I’m sort of getting through it but I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet," he said.

The celebrity chef expressed his gratitude to the medical staff who took care of him while in the hospital.

"I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe," he wrote in the caption of the video.

Celebrity friends and fans were quick to extend their well wishes for Gordon.

"Glad you’re alright, chef! That’s so scary. Take care and feel better soon," Nigel Ng aka content creator Uncle Roger commented.

Gordon is the owner of the restaurant group Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, which currently holds eight Michelin stars.

The celebrity chef is set to open his first restaurant in Manila this year at the Newport Word Resorts called Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill.

When it comes to his television career, Gordon starred in various shows including Hell's Kitchen, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, MasterChef, and MasterChef Junior, among others.

In 2020, Gordon ranked No. 19 on the Forbes highest-earning celebrities list with an estimated earnings of $70 million.
