Social media influencers Rosmar Tan and Rendon Labador were declared persona non grata in the whole island of Palawan earlier this week. This resolution comes after the two personalities were recorded berating a government staff member at the Coron municipal hall.

The video went viral and netizens sided with the government staff member as Rosmar and Rendon were spotted pointing fingers and berating her all throughout the video.

At first, the Municipality of Coron announced that they filed a resolution to declare the influencers persona non grata in Coron only. This was shared by Coron Sangguniang Bayan member Juan Patricio Eyes on his Facebook account.

Following Coron, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Palawan revealed that all the Board Members from the different municipalities of Palawan had agreed to declare the influencers persona non grata in the whole province instead of one municipality only.

This was recommended by Board Member Juan Antonio Alvarez during their session earlier this week. The motion was immediately approved by the presiding officer, Vice Governor Leoncio Ola, as there were no objections.

“Disorderly behavior in the Province of Palawan and for conduct inimical to the good and morals of the community. I think that could be a very good reason for declaring them persona non grata in the province,” Palawan 1st District Board Member Winston Arzaga reasoned.

Meanwhile, Rosmar and Rendon issued a public apology after the video went viral. They shared how they were just in the heat of the moment which was why they acted that way towards the staff member.

“Pasensya na po kay Ma’am Jho, sa munisipyo at lalong-lalo na po kay Mayor at sa bayan ng Coron, Palawan. Sorry po talaga na pinost ko na ‘Never again Coron.’ Hindi ko po sinasadya na i-generalize ko kayo,” Rosmar said.

“Nagpadala po ako sa bugso ng damdamin at ‘yun po ‘yung pinakamaling nagawa ko. Alam ko pong pagkakamali po ‘yon. Sana mapatawad nyo po ako,” she added.

“Kami po ay nagpapakababa sa inyong lahat na susubukan po namin na baguhin kung ano man po ‘yung pagkakamali namin, kung sumobra man po kami,” Rendon said.

He shared that this experience will be a lesson not only for him but for their Team Malakas and assured everyone that they will learn from it.

“Tingin po namin, ito po ay magiging lesson sa amin as a team. We will be better at babawi po kami, at hindi po ito magiging hadlang sa advocacy namin na makatulong at makapagbigay ng inspirasyon sa lahat ng taong nangangailangan,” he added.
