Luis Manzano opened up about being a first-time dad.

In an interview with Smart Parenting, the television host was asked if his parenting style has been somehow influenced by his parents.

"Siguro unconsciously, we've always been a very malambing family. We're very affectionate, very vocal... In fact bagong panganak pa si Peanut (his term of endearment for daughter Rosie) the first month or two whenever ilalabas namin sa vlog, may mga nagco-comment, 'Bakit I love you ng I love you si Luis?' So parang dun ko na-realize oo nga noh na I always [say], 'I love you Peanut, I love you anak.'

He highlighted that being affectionate was something he got from his parents.

"'Yun ang nakikita ko, my dad (Edu Manzano) and I we hug we kiss, si Tito Ralph (Recto) din naman you can see how intense his love is for Peanut so it was never something siguro na I consciously got from Mommy (Vilma Santos), Daddy, from Tito Ralph. It was more of that environment that I grew up in so iyon 'yung automatically napapasa ko kay Peanut."

In the same interview, Luis also got candid about his biggest fears as a father.

"[My biggest fear is] the reality of not being able to provide. Hindi ko kailangang magbigay ng sobrang rangyang buhay, it's not me, it's not Jessy, and it's not something for Peanut. We just want a comfortable life na happy kami, happy ang mga tao sa pagilid and nakakakain naman kami. I guess that's the biggest fear for me, one, especially na bata pa si Peanut," he shared.

He went on: "Two, lumaki si Peanut na hindi siya magiging blessing sa ibang tao, whatever that entails. Sabi ko naman for you to be a blessing to other people, a common misconception is people always believe that it's always monetary, na kailangan for you to be able to be a blessing kailangan lagi kang nagbibigay."

Luis pointed out that being a blessing goes beyond providing monetary value to other people.

The television host explained: "When you say being a blessing means you just make life easier for so many people. Iyon 'yung fear ko na hindi ma-instill kay Peanut as a father. Whether it be nagpapatawa siya, nagpapagaan siya ng buhay ng tao or she shows compassion, iyon 'yung fear ko na hindi ko maibigay sa kanya but I would like to think that she has a good environment with Jessy, kay Mommy, kay Daddy, kay Tito Ralph, na they have the best hearts na if ever man na ako ay kapusin sa department na yun, ang daming pwedeng [magturo] sa kanya to really be a blessing."

Are there mindsets that he has been instilling on his daughter as early as now?

"One thing and parati ko 'tong sinasabi for people my age, it was an old movie, Father of the Bride, Steve Martin... There was something that he said in the end, this is just me sa pagkakaintindi ko, he said something na parang at one point in life, you will have to let your children go into the world. You'll have to let them experience the good and the bad," he said.

Luis shared that raising a kid with innate goodness is what he aspires as a father.

"Para sa akin naniniwala ako na lahat tayo nagkamali na in one point. Lahat ng mga anak natin magkakamali pa rin at one point. But you always hope and pray that you raised them well enough na 'yun ang babalikan nila, 'yung core na iyon na pagpapalaki na kahit mapaligiran sila ng whatever temptation, day in and day out, they will always fall back on how you raised [them]. That's what I want to instill sa kanila. Just that innate goodness na meron silang fallback, just in case things get a bit too loud or too noisy."
