Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Rian Bacalla shares how out and proud she is with her gender identity as a transwoman. She took to her social media account to celebrate the past nine years, highlighting not just her journey from the PBB house but her identity as well. 

Rian joined the reality show back in 2015 and made history as she was previously the first-ever openly gay teenager to enter the PBB house.

In her post, she recalled how she was dubbed the “Kid Sunshine ng Cebu” when she entered the house nine years ago. The former housemate shared an old photo of her where she previously identified as gay and a newer photo of her years later where she identifies as a transwoman.

“9 years ago today was the time I went inside the Pinoy Big Brother ABS-CBN house as a teen housemate,” she wrote.

Despite not being accepted by her family back then, Rian revealed that a lot has changed since.

“I was once a gay not totally accepted by my family and years forward, I've blossomed into a lady that I am now today,” she stated.

“A lot has changed since then. But one thing is for sure, I'll forever be your KID SUNSHINE NG CEBU,” she closed.

Fans of the former PBB housemate expressed their support in the comment section of her post. Some netizens commended Rian for standing up and staying true to herself and what she feels. 

“Happy pride my transpiration! so much lovee ate riii,” a fan shared.

Meanwhile, Rian is currently participating in the Queen of Cebu City Pride 2024 competition where she is representing one of the biggest barangays in Cebu–– Labangon. The coronation night for the pageant is set to happen on June 28 at the Sawang Calero Sports Complex.
